  • Owens reflects on 10-year WWE anniversary, expressing gratitude.
  • Optimistic Owens hopes to return soon after necessary surgery.

WWE Superstar Kevin Owens posted a video on his social media account offering an update on his injury status. Owens told the WWE Universe he needed neck surgery and hinted he would be out long term. The video suggested things haven't progressed, and he's going to be out for some time as he's still waiting to have his surgery.

Owens Says Reports He Had Surgery Are Not Accurate

While promoting a book about his early wrestling career with Sami Zayn, Owens also shot down reports that he's had neck surgery. He explained:

"We don't have a surgery date yet. I have not had surgery yet, despite reports to the contrary. We're still kinda trying to figure out what the best way to go about it all is, exactly what needs to be done, so we're kinda figuring that out still. So there's a lot of uncertainty, but hopefully in the next few weeks, we'll get clarity and we do the surgery and then we go from there."

In the video, Owens also reminisces about joining the WWE main roster 10 years ago, to the day he posted this video. "This morning, I was reminded that 10 years ago today, I showed up on Raw for the first time to answer John Cena's open challenge. That night changed my life forever, changed my career," he said.

Owens Is Already Missing Being An Active Competitor

He added that the anniversary reminded him that he's not currently where he wants to be. "And now 10 years later, I'm not where I wanna be because I wish I was in the ring performing, having matches, contributing, and that's not the case unfortunately because of this neck injury," he said.

However, it wasn't all bad news. Owens seemed confident he would be back and added, "I'm just so grateful for all of it. So thank you all, everyone that was a part of it. From my family to the guys and girls in the locker room to the crew, people behind the scenes that I admire and respect and love so much, and the fans, just everyone. I really can't thank you all enough for being a part of it."

The hope is that Owens gets his surgery soon and won't be out much longer than he has to be. He's a big part of the WWE roster and one of the most entertaining performers WWE has on its payroll.
