Jacksonville State is in the Conference USA championship - it’s two games up on everyone else. That’s a wild-card in the CUSA Championship scenarios for a whole slew of reasons.

The Gamecocks don’t need to play any of their main guys against Western Kentucky, and that’s a problem for Sam Houston.

Liberty beat WKU last week 38-21. That means if it beats Sam Houston its playing Jax State for the title. Sam Houston lost to the Hilltoppers. It needs to win this and hope for Jacksonville State to beat WKU.

Liberty vs Sam Houston: Who Will Win?

It’s a simple deal for Sam Houston. The passing game needs to be accurate - it doesn’t have to go off, just hit the midrange throws and things will be fine.

That, and stop the run.

The Bearkats went 8-0 when allowing fewer than 130 rushing yards, and gave up that many or more in the three losses. Liberty’s worst running game this season was a 179-yard day in a win over UTEP.

Sam Houston might be at home, and Liberty has been WAY flaky, even in its wins - it struggled to get by UMass two weeks ago, but it also rocked WKU last week when it had to. The problem … Liberty isn’t good on the road.

Sam Houston will keep this a low-scoring fight, but it won’t stop the Flame ground game.
