A WWE Superstar on a red carpet? “Stranger things” have happened. But when that appearance concerns Liv Morgan, it understandably gets the WWE Universe talking.
Ahead of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, Netflix held a world premiere for the popular series that attracted numerous stars from every corner of the entertainment industry. Among them was the former Women’s World Champion, Liv Morgan. The inaugural Crown Jewel Champion has been out of action since dislocating her shoulder on WWE Raw in June.
In the opening exchanges of a match with Kairi Sane, Morgan landed awkwardly, bringing the bout to a premature close. After being helped backstage by medical personnel, it was revealed that Morgan had suffered a serious shoulder injury that would put her on the sidelines for a significant period.
Liv Morgan’s injury threw the women’s division into chaos, ruining her Evolution and SummerSlam storylines. At the time, Morgan was in the early stages of feuds with both Nikki Bella and then-Women’s Champion IYO SKY. It was later reported that Morgan was set to fight Bella at Evolution.
Initial reports suggested that the four-time tag team champion would be out for five to six months. This suggests that an early 2026 return is well on the cards for Morgan. Since injuring her shoulder, the Judgment Day order has shifted considerably. Raquel Rodriguez adopted Roxanne Perez as her new tag team partner, with Perez inheriting Morgan’s tag team championship as a result of her injury.
Tensions between “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor have worsened – especially in light of Mysterio’s double champ status and Balor and McDonaugh’s losing the tag team titles a fortnight ago. It’ll be interesting to see how Morgan fits into the discord of the longstanding faction when she returns.
The next major WWE PLEs on the calendar are the Royal Rumble in January and Elimination Chamber in February. The Royal Rumble always offers a great chance for surprise entrances and returns. However, as Jade Cargill emphatically demonstrated earlier this year, the Elimination Chamber wouldn’t be a bad time to throw Morgan into the fray either.
