Logan Paul and John Cena produced a memorable match at WWE Clash in Paris on Aug. 31. The contest saw Cena cycle through multiple finishing moves, as he paid homage to some of the company's greatest stars.
In the latest episode of his "Impaulsive" podcast, Paul explained why he will cherish the match against Cena. He detailed how being in the ring with such an all-time talent was both a privilege and a high-level learning experience.
"It felt like I was kind of at school," Paul said (h/t Fightful for the transcription). "And as an absorber of knowledge and someone who wants to be the best, I’m trying to just take in as much information and knowledge as I can while I’m in the ring with the greatest of all time in what will be my last match with him on his retirement tour...John Cena wrestles better than Pablo Picasso paints...Working with him was such a privilege, and I leveled up. I climbed a couple of rungs of the ladder that night."
Paul's match with Cena is certainly one of the better ones of Cena's retirement tour. In fact, the only potential contender is his street fight with Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. The match certainly served as proof that Paul is a talented wrestler, likely winning over sections of the fan base that have been skeptical of his position within the roster.
Cena's final match is scheduled for Dec. 13. Currently, there are no details on who he will face or what type of match will be on offer. However, we can be certain that WWE will make it a spectacle, and it will likely become a core part of wrestling history.
That final match is the last of the seven remaining dates. His next appearance is due on Sept. 15 at WWE "Raw" in Springfield, Mass., followed by a match at the new Premium Live Event, Wrestlepalooza.
Cena's career is rapidly winding down. However, if we can get two or three more matches like the one he had against Paul, he will be leaving the wrestling world on a high note. The blueprint is there. Hopefully, WWE's creative team continues to follow it.
