Penta and Rey Fénix are blood-related, but they debuted on different brands. Unfortunately, both men lost their WrestleMania debut matches this weekend. Now, it is unlikely that either of the two won’t get another Mania Moment. However, if the Lucha Brothers reunited after WWE WrestleMania 41, it could be an extraordinary moment to forget the big weekend’s shortcomings.

They can avenge their losses, rebuild the shattered Raw Tag Team division, and add some much-needed context to their characters, as only real family can do. They are two of WWE’s most talented signees in a very long time, and we can see a reunion of two Lucha legends.

Losses Lead to Opportunities if the Lucha Brothers Reunited

Rey Fenix took up Rey Mysterio’s mantle after an unfortunate injury. Penta lost a four-way title match built around Finn Balor and the eventual winner, Dominik Mysterio.

After his entrance, the fearless superstar was lost in a crowd of more established stars. Fenix had to take a major match with just a few weeks on TV and absolutely no heat, which he also lost. It was a big weekend; WrestleMania, for the first time, is probably a dream come true. Starting on the losing end of the ledger is not how anyone wants to start their Mania tenure.

How do you recover two guys coming off high-profile losses? You have the team together to get revenge on the people who defeated them. El Grande Americano and American Made have it out for the Luchadores and Lucha Libre as a fighting style.

With AAA joining WWE, The Lucha Brothers could lead a response against this American flag-clad faction to establish themselves after high-profile losses, establish AAA as fixtures in the WWE Universe, and establish a team for going forward.

A New Classic Feud for the New Day

The Raw Tag Team division is in crisis. Apart from New Day, there are no teams that can credibly challenge or hold the tag titles. It feels like years ago when The Usos and New Day were revitalizing the division in WWE for the first time in decades.

It seemed like Triple H and company were onto something at WrestleMania 39. The Uso’s vs. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens had the main event match on that Saturday night, and putting two big stars into the division might work this time. Even that ended up being a short-lived shot of energy.

With the New Day back at the top, it is time for one last epic feud, possibly well into or past the summer, to revitalize the titles and give New Day a last great rivalry in what will probably be their last run with the titles. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have been massively over as heels again, and they can introduce Penta and Fenix better than almost anyone else in WWE.

They are credible and popular, and most fans of AEW or Lucha Underground have already wondered what a clash between the two teams would look like. There is no time like the present, and capitalizing on a down period for the new hirings and a peak for the veteran duo.

The Lucha Brothers Reunited Adds Early Character Depth

In wrestling, a story of brothers can be one of unity or betrayal. The Lucha Brothers reunited, which gives Penta and Fenix a built-in lore to develop as characters.

Their brotherhood is interesting; it always will be when two family members enter the same profession and ascend to such heights. A fictionalized family usually ends in melodrama; think Kane and The Undertaker. Real brotherhood, either by blood or by bond, is far more interesting and instantly makes fans more interested.

The life of the luchador, especially two who are as well known in their home country and even globally, has to make for some compelling road stories. Both brothers are different in so many ways, yet they have paths similar to those of their current positions. Sometimes, it was together, other times alone.

Occasionally, it was in total opposition. That sort of history translates easily to any audience, and with both performers being just weeks into their WWE run,

The Road After WWE WrestleMania 41 for The Lucha Brothers Reunited

The singles scene is well set after WrestleMania. Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn are stalking Jey Uso for the top title on Raw. John Cena has Randy Orton breathing down his neck for the WWE title. Likewise, Finn Balor and Dominik have unfinished business over the Intercontinental Championship.

The Bloodline has come into possession of the United States title as well. Jacob Fatu probably has it locked down for the foreseeable future. There is just no upward mobility for the two stars alone. As a unit, they have more chances to shine and to stand out while the backlash of WrestleMania for the winners of the weekend resolves in the coming weeks.
