Stephanie Vaquer made WWE history this month by beating Giulia for the NXT Women's Championship. Now that she has that and the Women's North American Title, she is the first female double champion in NXT history. Well, she might be. WWE has given Vaquer that label, but Mandy Rose has taken issue with it.
Haha yea it’s pretty pathetic isn’t it!! Thanks for the recognition tho! Appreciate you!!ðŸ™ðŸ»ðŸ™ðŸ»ðŸ™ðŸ» https://t.co/VBFfJ99q1V— Mandy (@mandysacs) March 26, 2025
WWE fan Pittsburgh Payne took to Twitter this week and claimed WWE is trying to erase its own history and treat fans like they're stupid by claiming Vaquer is the first female double champion in NXT history. They've claimed that honor should go to Rose since, in 2022, Rose won the NXT UK Women's Championship while she was already the NXT Women's Champion.
Not only does Rose agree that WWE is trying to erase her accomplishments, but she went a step further in her reply to the fan. "It’s pretty pathetic isn’t it? Thanks for the recognition though," Rose replied. However, the claim that Rose was a double champion before Vaquer has been hit with a community note. Community notes are effectively official corrections added to inaccurate posts on Twitter.
The community note points out that technically, Rose was never a double champion. Even though there was one night in NXT when she literally had both the Women's and the UK Women's Championships in her possession, the match in which she won the UK Title was a unification match. That means technically, as soon as the bell rang and the match ended, the two titles became one.
Ya’ll crack me up !!! 😂🤣ðŸ¤#DoubleChampion 🤪 pic.twitter.com/vq8fSvMcaB— Mandy (@mandysacs) March 28, 2025
The community note pointing out the technicality obviously didn't sit well with Rose who felt compelled to respond to it and any other wrestling fans claiming she was never a double champion. Rose makes it very clear that no matter what others think, she was the first woman to hold two titles in NXT at the same time, and no one can take that away from her.
I'm certainly not defending WWE and claiming it has never been guilty of trying to overwrite wrestling history. It is notorious for doing that. This just isn't one of those times. Rose was never the NXT UK Women's Champion because, again, the second she won that match, the NXT UK Women's Title's lineage ended. The final NXT UK Women's Champion was Meiko Satomura as the title was retired when she lost it. Even though Rose was holding it after the match, that was purely symbolic to demonstrate the two titles had become one.
