Mark Henry reveals the backstage issue that got him heat with Vince McMahon

There was a time in the not-too-distant past when Mark Henry was one of the baddest dudes on the planet, with his booking in WWE clearly designed to make him look and apparently feel like the original monster among men.

But what happens when a performer billed as “The World’s Strongest Man” gets tested by a faction known for their pension for their juvenile tactics, especially when he was using crutches at the time? Well, on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker found out firsthand, as Henry recalled a particularly wild situation where he threatened to end Shawn Michaels and the entire Kliq for maybe hiding his crutches backstage.

“I got in trouble, and they sent me to Canada, because I threatened to k*ll Shawn Michaels and the entire Kliq. I meant that s**. I meant it, but I found out later on that it was Paul Bearer who hid my crutches. I blamed it on Shawn. They came up to me, ‘Hey man, they hid your crutches? What happened?’ I was like, ‘You’re too small to be talking s**t. I will f**king k*ll you and everybody that knows you,'” Mark Henry explained on Busted Open via Fightful.

“Sid was behind Shawn. When I threatened him, Sid was [imitates heavy breathing]. I was like, ‘The f**k you breathing heavy for? I’m not talking to you, but if you want it, you can get it too.’ [Undetaker] knows who I am. When that switch flips, I don’t give a f**k who you are. Ask Vince (McMahon) himself. I told Vince when to take a step back. ‘You’re in my face.’ I don’t give a f**k how much money you have, you better back up. ‘You’re crazy.’ No, I’m not. I’m mad. That’s when I was stupid. You can’t be in a professional industry with no couth. You can’t. They’re going to get rid of you. It happened to me. [Vince] was like, ‘I’d rather pay you your money and get the f**k out of my face.’ So he sent me to Canada. Nobody ever sat me down and taught me wrestling etiquette.”

Now that is one incredible story with fun twists and turns to keep everyone guessing and a fantastic punchline in the end.

Would Henry have been even more successful if he learned wrestling etiquette early on? Would he have earned more than one run with the World Heavyweight Championship or even just had more midcard title runs with the Intercontinental Championship or even the United States Title? Or was that irrelevant to Henry’s run, with his unique journey through the wrestling world? Hopefully next time he rolls through Six Feet Under, or even the next time he’s on Busted Open Radio, Henry can tell that story too, as he has a way of entertaining fans with his words that’s on par with his efforts in the ring.

Ryback wants to talk to Mark Henry one-on-one about past issues.

Speaking of wrestlers who had issues in the past with Mark Henry during their shared time together in WWE, Ryback recently took to social media to try to address his issues with “The World’s Strongest Man,” which has seen both men take shots at the other on multiple occasions over the years. With the duo independently set to be in Las Vegas this weekend for AEW Double or Nothing and the events surrounding it, Ryback hopes to get things settled once and for all.

“Hey Mark Henry definitely hit me up when you’re in Vegas. Not once have you done so prior, and I agree I would much prefer to talk in person, but you were the one that initially went on Busted Open and did what you did,” Ryback declared on social media. “You’re better than to do what you’re doing here and I’ve tried coming on Busted Open, but that was on you guys not letting me on or following up. Looking forward to talking eventually.”

What does Henry really gain from making things right with Ryback, a man desperately clinging onto his professional wrestling career despite very few fans still wanting to see the Goldberg knockoff continue his in-ring career? It’s hard to say. Still, in the end, Ryback remains a popular topic of conversation – even if largely for the wrong reasons – within the IWC, and as a result, may prove just interesting enough to bring on Busted Open Radio every now and then to make some ridiculous statements and create the headlines that accompany such hot takes… assuming Henry actually wants to bury the hatchet with “Big Hungry” at all.
