The current status of a top AEW star's contract has been reported.

There have been some shifts within AEW's roster as of late, but the company's main event players remain. The likes of MJF, "Hangman" Adam Page, "Timeless" Toni Storm, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, and others are involved in key storylines. Of course, there's also the current AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley.

There is one significant AEW star who could test free agency soon if option years weren't added to her contract. Fightful reports the belief within AEW is that Mariah May is in the midst of her contract year. Some reportedly feel that her deal is set to expire this summer.

The report did note that there's no word on whether or not option years are attached to May's contract. It was also mentioned that the feeling backstage is that it would be surprising if AEW lets May walk this year, given how strongly her character has been presented on "AEW Dynamite" and "AEW Collision."

May lost the AEW World Championship to Storm at "AEW Grand Slam" in Brisbane on Feb. 15. The two ended their rivalry at "AEW Revolution" in a "Hollywood Ending" match. May also fell short in that contest after taking Storm Zero onto a table.

May's first defeat against Storm was her first loss since "AEW Battle of the Belts XII" on Oct. 19, 2024. That was a title eliminator for Anna Jay, who ended up losing the championship match on the Nov. 2, 2024 episode of "AEW Collision."
