Mickie James has high praise for her friend — and next opponent — Alicia Fox.

James spoke with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay to promote her upcoming women’s wrestling event, HER. Mickie will face off with Fox, who is now going by the name ‘Vix Crow.’ James said she’s excited for the match on so many levels, perhaps most of all because it will give fans a chance to see just how talented her friend is inside the ring.

“The match I’m most excited about, and I haven’t even brought it up [yet] — my own match. I’m so happy about this match, I’m so excited about this match on so many levels for so many different reasons,” Mickie James explained. “Not only because Vic is one of my ride or dies, she’s my R.O.D. for sure. You know, we traveled the roads together, we’ve seen so many eras, shall we say, of wrestling. And I don’t — and it’s not me being biased because I’m her friend and I adore her, but I feel like I don’t understand if people understand how damn good she is.”

“I don’t think people can even begin to wrap their heads around it,” she added. “To not only be the first-ever African American female Divas Champion, and I think the longevity of her career as a woman in this industry, in one company, should be applauded on so many levels. It’s really remarkable. I’ve never seen — every match, I’ve always thought she was the ‘cat’s meow’, right? She’s just so damn good, but we haven’t wrestled each other, aside from [multi-women matches].

I want to deliver

Ella Jay then pointed out that their last singles match was WWE Hell In A Cell in October 2009.

“It’s crazy. It’s insane when I think about it. Like how did that even happen? But we were always aligned and we were together, you know? And like I said,” James continued, “if it was across the ring from each other [since then], it was in a six-girl, or an eight-girl tag match and that story was [not centered on the two of us].

“This is her first time being seen in the ring since leaving WWE, so we’re going to see her back in this ‘Vix Crow’ [identity], which is really amazing. It’s so in line with who she is and I think it’s a real way for her to redefine herself and remind people of who the hell she is. I’m excited about it. I know she’s going to bring it, but I also haven’t been in the ring since my match with Trinity [at IMPACT Bound For Glory 2023]. I want to be able to deliver,” James said.

Mickie James vs. Vix Crow will take place at HER on Friday, April 12. The event is part of Starrcast Down Under week from April 11-14 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. More event information can be found here.
