The Aftermath of the MLW vs CMLL event

MLW and CMLL’s historic collaboration continues to electrify fans across two nations. On May 2, CMLL welcomed MLW in Mexico City, Mexico. History was made again as 2 MLW titles changed hands that night.

Los Depredadores, Magnus and Rugido, defeated CozyMAX (Satoshi Kojima & Shigeo Okumura) to become the new MLW World Tag Team Champions. Already reigning Mexican National Tag Team Champions, Magnus and Rugido now hold gold on both sides of the border, solidifying their place among the most dominant teams in the sport.

The victory also marked the first time a CMLL-based tag team has won the MLW World Tag Team Titles, sending shockwaves through both locker rooms and igniting a new era of international tag team warfare.

The legendary Último Guerrero added more gold to his storied career, defeating Matthew Justice to win the MLW National Openweight Championship. Justice, known for his wild brawling style and reckless abandon, brought the fight, but it was Guerrero’s ring IQ and devastating Guerrero Special that sealed the win.

With this win, Último Guerrero became the first CMLL Luchador to hold the MLW National Openweight Championship, further deepening the competitive fire between MLW and CMLL and setting the stage for more high-stakes battles ahead.

The Stakes at MLW

At Battle RIOT VII, Riddle was blindsided during an appearance on Sessions by Saint Laurent—attacked mid-interview by Dijak, in a savage ambush orchestrated by Saint Laurent himself. Alongside Bishop Dyer, Dijak brutalized the World Champ, repeatedly crushing Riddle’s ribs with a steel chair in an assault that left the champ injured and reeling.

Reports indicate Riddle is still recovering from two broken ribs—but that hasn’t stopped the fighting champion from accepting the challenge.

With the attack, Saint Laurent unveiled the full force of his plan: a new skyscraper duo in Dijak and Dyer, unstoppable, unrelenting, and now gunning for MLW’s top prize.

In one corner stands Hammerstone, a human tank built for destruction, returning to singles action in MLW for the first time since December 2023.

On the other corner, Kojima, a world-renowned beast forged in the gym, relentless in his pursuit to clean out the division and become a three-time MLW World Heavyweight Champion. T

his is a clash of two powerhouses, both former MLW World Champions. Both are built like granite. Both are determined to make a definitive statement in front of the red-hot Chicago crowd. This won’t just be a battle of legacy, but a war of strength and willpower.

The Stakes at CMLL

A legend of the sport, Atlantis teams with the Egyptian conniption Esfinge, bringing a blend of tradition and explosiveness. Their opponents are the cunning Hechicero, a master of technical wizardry, and the fierce high-flyer Guerrero Maya Jr.—a team as dangerous as they are unpredictable.

This tag-team bout is more than a showcase of elite Lucha action — it’s a battle of pride, style, and supremacy as these four warriors represent CMLL on MLW’s biggest international stage.

At Battle RIOT VII, while Místico was publicly relinquishing the MLW World Middleweight Title due to injury, Ikuro Kwon of CONTRA Unit interrupted the announcement, mocking the wounded icon and igniting chaos.

In a brazen act of defiance, Kwon spat his toxic mist into the face of MLW President César Durán, temporarily blinding him, then stole the vacated Middleweight title.

Since then, the CONTRA Unit has maintained physical possession of the belt, despite having no rightful claim to it. Místico is ready for redemption, but the road back to the top just got far more dangerous as he will face both Kwon and Templario, the man who pinned him in tag team action at SuperFight 6.
