LA Knight is once again the WWE United States Champion. Knight defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event of Friday’s SmackDown in Philadelphia to capture the US title for the second time. Nakamura defeated Knight for the title at Survivor Series last November in Vancouver, and defended it just once on WWE programming in the interim in a DQ loss to Knight on a SmackDown in January. It looked as though Friday’s main event might end the same way, with Nakamura taking out one referee with mist to the eyes, and bringing a steel chair into the ring. Instead, he was done in by his own actions, as Knight hit a BFT on the chair. A second referee then ran in to count the pinfall to end Nakamura’s third reign as WWE United States Champion.
