WWE 2K25's New Wave Pack went live last week, marking not only the first rollout of DLC for the latest game in the series but also the WWE video game debuts of Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and the Motor City Machine Guns. The pack was supposed to include a celebrity guest, but as of now, that hasn't happened, and judging by the reactions to 2K25's upcoming celebrity addition, that might be a good thing.
BREAKING: Tyrese Haliburton is coming to WWE 2K25 later this year!🔥🔥🔥#WWERawpic.twitter.com/I2eA8Rt0GG— WWE (@WWE) May 20, 2025
Even though the first DLC pack remains incomplete, its promised celebrity guest still a mystery, WWE 2K has moved on and revealed one of the three non-wrestlers that will be a part of its next DLC pack. Dubbed the Dunk & Destruction Pack, all we knew about the mystery guests was that they'd be NBA players. We now know that one of those players will be Tyrese Haliburton.
The imminent arrival of the Indiana Pacers star on the WWE 2K25 roster was confirmed during Monday night's Raw, coupled with a first glimpse at how Haliburton will look in-game. The graphics in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of this year's game are pretty great, so Haliburton looks good. So good that some basketball fans are a little peeved, asking why he looks better in a WWE game than he does in NBA 2K25.
No one wanted this btw— Ryan Gravenberch FT (Adam) (@Itz_Crossbow) May 20, 2025
It's not how good Haliburton looks in WWE 2K25 that's annoying fans the most, though. It's that he has been included in the game at all. The bulk of reactions to the Haliburton announcement are from fans questioning why he needs to be in the game at all. WWE 2K revealing ahead of time that there would be three NBA stars among this year's DLC doesn't appear to have softened the blow.
"No one wanted this btw," reads one fan's reply to a reveal tweet shared by WWE Games. Another quite rightly points out that "NBA players have their own game." My guess is WWE and NBA's games both falling under the 2K banner is how and why this is happening. Now, if you put The Undertaker, Rhea Ripley, and Rey Mysterio in NBA 2K26, I might be a little more interested.
Don’t NBA player have their own game? Why bring them to a WRESTLING GAME?? Yall are so ridiculous— alex(sacsnation) (@snukabaddies2) May 20, 2025
The other complaints littered among the reactions to this reveal are questioning where the first pack's celebrity guest is. The only solace we can take from it is that it probably isn't going to be anyone people are all that excited to add to their roster. If you're interested in playing as Haliburton, you will be able to buy the Dunk & Destruction pack from June 25, 2025. If you bought one of the special editions or you own the season pass, the DLC will download automatically.
