After failing to become WWE's latest odd couple Tag Team Champions in a four-way match at Evolution, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair have managed to get the job done at SummerSlam . The multi-time Women's Champions were given a second opportunity, and without other teams to get in their way, they managed to defeat Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez with the gold on the line.
Rodriguez and Perez aren't exactly an established tag team themselves, having been thrown together as champions in the wake of Liv Morgan being sidelined. That didn't show in the early goings of this match, though. The now-former champs very much had the upper hand, keeping The Queen in their corner so that she couldn't bring Bliss into the mix for a long time.
When Flair finally managed to tag Bliss was when the match finally started to feel a little more even. The Goddess even came close to getting things wrapped up early, with Perez needing to rely on Rodriguez to come and break things up in the nick of time. Signs that their tag title reign was beginning to crumble beneath them.

By the time the final stages of the match began to unfold, it was Flair and Bliss who looked more like the more established team. That was until Bliss accidentally took out Flair, putting their title shot in jeopardy. The pair rallied, though, as Bliss made amends and won the titles for her and Flair, defeating Perez with a Twisted Bliss to win the match.
As soon as WWE had Flair and Bliss start teaming together, it seemed likely that their road together would eventually lead to gold. Not only because they are both among WWE's most decorated female Superstars individually, but also because throughout history, WWE has demonstrated that it has a penchant for awkwardly pairing top stars together so that they can win tag team gold.
Flair and Bliss join a list of odd couple Tag Team Champions that includes The Rock and The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dude Love, and even Edge with the late Hulk Hogan. However, if most of those examples, and so many others, are anything to go by, Flair and Bliss won't be able to co-exist as Tag Team Champions for long.
As for the now former champions, Perez will have the wrath of Liv Morgan to incur when she returns. Perez won the right to take Morgan's place as a Tag Team Champion due to Morgan being sidelined with an injury. Now, when Morgan gets back, she'll likely confront Perez about losing her title while she was away.
