R-Truth Makes Shocking Return At WWE Money In The Bank

After widespread reports that R-Truth was no longer with WWE, he made a surprise return Saturday night at Money in the Bank. On commentary, the announcers referred to it as “rumors” that Truth had left the company after failing to come to terms on a new contract. However, both media reports and Truth himself had previously indicated that he was informed he wouldn’t be brought back. Whatever the true reason behind his absence, it now appears that R-Truth is officially back.

"We Want Truth" Gets R-Truth's Job Back?

Financial reasons were cited as the reason R-Truth was apparently done with WWE. It was believed that the company had conducted an ROI analysis and, with his contract expiring, determined that he wasn't worth keeping. He, along with Carlito and Sarah Logan, were all told they wouldn't be re-signed. Rumors of The Miz also leaving WWE were shot down earlier in the weekend.

The news that Truth was among the cuts sent shockwaves through the industry as WWE fans were floored that they would let one of the most entertaining stars in the company leave. Wrestlers sent messages to Truth showing their support, and fans started chanting "We want Truth" at events, including on Saturday night during the show.

Cena addressed the chants Friday during SmackDown, which might have been the first indication WWE had reconsidered its position to let him go. He made a shocking return Saturday night during the main event, spearing John Cena.

Cena was about to attack Cody Rhodes with the championship title when a hooded figure came out of the crowd. He attacked Cena, then removed his hood and a mask to reveal Truth underneath. The live audience went wild. Truth hit Cena with the title, left the ring, and Rhodes was able to deliver a CrossRhodes, earning the victory for himself and Jey Uso.

Fan Pressure Wins Out

It's unclear whether new contract terms have been worked out between R-Truth and WWE, or if this is merely a contract extension with a salary similar to what he was already earning. What is clear is that WWE has realized that they might have made a mistake in releasing him and letting him go; the fans made their voices heard, and WWE brought him back to the pleasant surprise of the WWE Universe.

Fans are thrilled he's back, and even more so that WWE listened and brought back a beloved Superstar.

Either that, or this was all a masterfully crafted work on the WWE fanbase, knowing how they would react to Truth being released, which led to the groundswell of support that made him more popular than ever.
