Randy Orton Defies Doctor Request To Stop Wrestling And Vows Retirement At 50 Years Old

Despite being told by medical to stop wrestling, Randy Orton keeps going and vows retirement only when he reaches 50 years old.

For about 18 months, there were lots of questions about Randy Orton. Basically, doctors thought he should retire from pro wrestling. He underwent back surgery and many thought his days were over. Although, he would not go out that way. Instead, he put in the rehab and returned at Survivor Series 2023 by helping the faces defeat The Judgment Day.

After all the chatter, Orton told Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge about the ordeal. “I had top neurologists telling me that, ‘You know what, you had a great career, you have a life after wrestling, and you wanna be comfortable. You don’t wanna be in pain the rest of your life. We’re gonna fix your back, but you’re gonna have to stop wrestling,’” said Orton. “The first six months that I was out, I had that in the back of my head, and it was tough. It was mentally very challenging. Love to be able to go until 50s.”

Missed Lots Of Developments

When Orton took time-away, he was working with Matt Riddle. Before Orton could return, WWE released Riddle because of several issues. Maybe, if Orton was active at the time, he could have saved the now ex WWE employee. At that point, it would take a top star like Orton to convince WWE to change their mind.

Lately, “The Viper” has been working some random programs. The biggest has been with Kevin Owens opposite Logan Paul, Austin Theory or Grayson Waller. Look for them to work King And Queen Of The Ring. At some point, Orton might turn heel by going after Owens and then looking for another title reign. So, is Randy Orton making the right call about wanting to hold-off on retirement for another 6 years?
