'Remakes Stink' - WWE Personality on Where Roman Reigns & Jey Uso's RAW Storyline Is Going

Jey Uso isn't going to become the next Tribal Chief after what transpired between himself, Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso on WWE RAW on Monday night (October 6). That's according to Sam Roberts, whose comments come amid the revived Bloodline saga, which looks to have taken a new twist following Reigns' return last week, where he urged Jey to focus on himself.

Sam Roberts: Roman Reigns & Jey Uso Story is 'Entirely Different'

When Reigns returned at the end of RAW on September 30th, he helped Jimmy and Jey fend off Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed of the Vision. But he also took the opportunity to motivate Jey with some intriguing words of advice amid a frustrating period for the World Heavyweight Champion.

Their exchange with Jimmy, looking concerned in the background, led many to predict that Jey was set to become the new Tribal Chief. But the OTC's appearance on this week's episode suggests WWE may be going down a different route.

Sam Roberts touched on Reigns' influence on RAW while speaking on RAW Recap:

"Roman Reigns is back, and all of a sudden, after weeks of no Roman, he's everywhere. He's omnipresent. He's not just showing up to do his segment, then getting in his Escalade and driving home like he did in the days with The Wisemen. He's sticking around for the whole show because he's seeing and hearing everything."

Roberts downplayed talk of a new Tribal Chief emerging after reviewing the events that unfolded on last night's episode:

"We've been talking about Jey Uso and where he stands, and Jey Uso as the next Tribal Chief, and Jey Uso acting like Roman Reigns, and Jimmy saying 'you're acting like Roman, ' and thinking he's the next Roman, and maybe Roman's the next Wiseman. But in reality, it's almost too linear when you're thinking about it in those terms. I thought it was really clear-cut when Roman came backstage after his altercation with Bronson Reed, and Jimmy and Jey are there, and Jimmy is like, 'you know we've got you Uce'. And as he's saying "we" Jey is just cutting Jimmy off saying 'I got you'."

He added:

"But Roman doesn't say 'No, here's the plan, here's what we're going to do'. He says, 'I thought I told you, you need to worry about yourself'. In Roman's mind, he's not trying to coach Jey to be the next Roman Reigns. He's trying to coach Jey to be in the position that Roman was in as Jey."

Reigns became the Tribal Chief in the summer of 2020 after spending years struggling to get over as a babyface. He took on a heel gimmick, which propelled him into superstardom as the Head of the Table.

Jey has different characteristics, of which Roberts feels that it's wrong to just try and remake the successful Tribal Chief story with a different individual:

"It is entirely different and it should be because they are different people. You learn from history but you don't just repeat it over and over again. You don't just go 'Oh, you know that thing that we did, we'll just do it again, but with different people'. No, you know why? Remakes stink. Remakes are the worst."

He concluded:

"The way this was being phrased was that this was a remake and remakes stink. Jey knows that, Roman knows that, Jimmy knows that and we know that."

The Bloodline saga started when Reigns evolved into the Tribal Chief and manipulated Jimmy and Jey, who eventually joined his side. He also recruited Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn, with the guidance of Paul Heyman, the Wiseman.

The group became one of the most successful stables in WWE history, allowing Reigns to become the face of the company. He held the WWE Universal Championship for 1,316 days while serving as The Head of the Table.

Jey Uso: Roman Reigns Will Always Be My Tribal Chief

Reigns' tyrannical rule as The Bloodline's chief eventually caused tension between himself and Jey. The latter was the main member of the group who found issue with the way the OTC was controlling the group and they butted heads several times.

The Usos officially left Reigns' side in June 2023, and Jey opted to move to RAW and leave the Bloodline drama behind on SmackDown. He alluded to this last year when Solo Sikoa self-appointed himself as the new Tribal Chief in Roman's absence after WrestleMania 40.

Jey told Gorilla Position:

"For me, Roman Reigns will always be my Tribal Chief. I learned from him. He’s the one who brought us to the promised land. Now the snakes want to step up. Solo Sikoa is a big hitter. I’m glad I’m not on Fridays no more. I do my thing on Monday, I’m going to let that family drama down over there, as long as they keep it on SmackDown, I’ll be alright."

Reigns has never truly apologised to Jey for his past behaviour when leading the Bloodline but as Roberts alluded to is keen to coach his cousin to find the same success he achieved. Main Event Jey was one of the biggest stars in the company at the start of the year but a frustrating period has seen him show shades of a heel turn.
