  • Rumors, that are almost certainly false, have been swirling suggesting Vince McMahon wants to buy back WWE.
  • Fans are arguing, regardless, over whether that would be a good thing for the company or not.
  • The vast majority of fans are in agreement that McMahon can't afford to buy back WWE, nor would TKO be willing to sell it even if he could.

Rumors are swirling that Vince McMahon wants to buy back WWE from TKO despite his ongoing legal issues. Although it's very unlikely something like that is even possible at this stage, that hasn't stopped fans from arguing over whether McMahon returning to the WWE hotseat would be a good idea or not.

Vince McMahon Wants To Buy Back WWE, Apparently

The rumors began when former WWE employee Jonathan Coachman claimed on his podcast, Behind the Turnbuckle, that McMahon wants to buy back WWE, citing unnamed sources within WWE. Masked J of PW Nexus has refuted those claims, revealing TKO is not interested in selling, although it's unclear where exactly that information has come from.

Harder evidence that McMahon doesn't have the option to buy back WWE comes in the form of common sense. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp tweeted what I assumed most of us were thinking in response to the news that McMahon wants to buy his company back by pointing out the former chairman probably doesn't have the money to do so.

McMahon Can't Afford To Buy Back WWE, But Fans Are Arguing About It Anyway

That hasn't stopped fans from arguing over whether McMahon would be good for WWE or not, though. One fan has implored fans to think back to what the tail end of McMahon's time in charge was like. Although TKO is going through a rough patch right now, a fan wrote, "Remember how bad the product was through pretty much the entire 2010s and early 2020s. Vince’s WWE hadn’t been good in nearly 20 years, TKO knocked it out of the park in the first year they were around."

There are naturally quite a few fans who are a lot more impatient and have shorter memories, and also seem to have forgotten McMahon has been accused of some very serious acts in an ongoing lawsuit. "I wish he would," another reply reads, with someone else labeling the theoretical takeover as "the most epic comeback ever". All feelings aside, McMahon's music hitting on Raw and revealing he once again owns WWE, similar to how he revealed WWE's purchase of WCW in 2001, would be quite something.

The majority of fans realize that this almost certainly isn't possible. There might be a way, but it would require McMahon to find investors with deep pockets, and a lot of them. TKO would also need to be willing to sell, which it almost certainly is not. Regardless of the outcome of the Janel Grant suit, odds are we have seen the last of McMahon in pro wrestling.
