Report: Carmella’s WWE contract recently expired

Carmella is no longer under WWE contract as her contract expired recently, according to a dual report from Fightful and PW Nexus.

The 37-year-old has been out of action since March 2023 as she and husband Corey Graves welcomed the birth of a son in November 2024. She also has been suffering through drop foot, a condition that can result from childbirth and involves herniated discs in the back pressing on nerves connected to the feet.

However, in the same interview with Nikki & Brie Garcia where she revealed her condition, she said she wanted to make an in-ring comeback and that she misses performing. As recently as December, she reiterated that desire and that she was waiting on her nerves to heal.

Since August 2022, she has wrestled just six times. She and Graves went public in October 2022 with news of a miscarriage that accounted for some of the time away.

As Graves remains with WWE as a broadcaster, it’s unknown if Carmella would explore other opportunities outside WWE when she is cleared to return or if WWE would want to re-sign her.

Born Leah Van Dale, she has been in the WWE system since 2013, originally paired with Enzo Amore and Big Bill, currently in AEW. She has once held both the SmackDown Women’s title and the Women’s Tag Team titles (with Zelina Vega).
