A new report provides an update on Damian Priest re-signing with WWE.

In April, Damian Priest said that he had signed a new contract with WWE. This came shortly after he won the World Heavyweight Championship by beating Drew McIntyre in an impromptu match at WWE WrestleMania.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Damian Priest’s new deal was completed a few months ago, and it came down to the wire. Per Sapp, his deal was up in February, and it was only days away from expiring.

The report cites WWE sources who noted that they always planned on retaining Priest, and the company spoke with him before they officially reached a new deal. Sapp writes that the new agreement is a multi-year contract.

It was also noted that Priest had full control over his new theme song, which has received rave reviews.

Damian Priest’s career has reached a new high in recent months. His title win at WWE WrestleMania 40 marked the first time he captured a world championship in WWE. He is a former tag team champion and United States Champion, among other accolades.
