WWE’s top star, Roman Reigns, was the latest guest on the Stephanie McMahon podcast What’s Your Story as they discussed family, Paul Heyman, Vince McMahon, being both an actor and WWE main eventer, along with various other topics.

Reigns fills the role as the Original Tribal Chief (OTC) in the WWE, but that extends far beyond the character that has millions of fans worldwide. He is part of a wrestling family lineage that goes back many years. These days, he serves as the main leader, with younger family members, such as the Usos, Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa, and others, continuing to build their profiles in hopes of one day fulfilling the position of being the top guy.

McMahon began her podcast four months ago, with Dana White being her first guest. As the show continues to develop, the guests are getting bigger, so now is the right time to have Reigns on the show. Although the episode’s runtime is an hour and 34 minutes, it passed quickly due to the great chemistry between Reigns and McMahon.

One of the first topics was Reigns and his time as a family man. The 40-year-old Reigns dives into what it’s like inside his household and what life is like outside of the ring. Things then turn to Paul Heyman, who was his “Wiseman” during one of the greatest title runs in the long history of the company.

McMahon asked what Reigns’ fondest memories are, both in and out of the ring. “In the ring, I could only say the title reign. The whole thing was magical,” said Reigns. Outside of the ring, “Just the conversations,” Reigns said initially. “The long flights, going to Saudi (Arabia), breaking bread with him, and being around his kids. If you are around him long enough, it’s hard not to pick up the diamonds and gems that he drops.’

Later in the episode, the conversation would lead to the former Chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon. Reigns said that there was a moment in his career when more time was dedicated to his career than to his roles as a father and husband at home. Reigns recalled a moment where Vince pulled him aside and stressed the importance of him “being present on the other side.”

One of the other things Reigns learned from Vince was being “slightly ahead of the curve.” Which makes complete sense, as Vince has always been “slightly ahead of the curve” when it came to the evolution of his company and the wrestling business as a whole. Reigns’ run has led to him striking a deal with Jordan, being the first wrestler to do so, amongst other notable achievements.

Towards the last quarter of the podcast, Reigns discusses the balance of being an actor in Hollywood while still main eventing WWE PPVs. Although guys like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena have done it, they have eventually dedicated more of their time to Hollywood than to wrestling.

Reigns doesn’t want to do that; he wants to do both. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to be the first to do it, said Reigns regarding acting & wrestling. “I don’t want to stop being a WWE superstar in order to wear other hats.”

Overall, the episode gave a sneak peek at how Reigns’ motor works both in and out of the ring, as at the end of the day, he’s a person just like anyone else trying to make it in his career, provide for his family, and be there for his wife and kids.
