Roman Reigns Planning Career Path No WWE Superstar Has Pulled Off
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

WWE superstar Roman Reigns doesn't want to follow the traditional Hollywood path taken by other wrestling superstars such as Batista, The Rock, and John Cena.

Instead, the former WWE champion made clear in his latest interview that he intends to stay active in the ring while pursuing leading roles in major films.

Roman Reigns Outlines His Greatest Ambition

Speaking on former WWE Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon’s "What’s Your Story" podcast on Thursday, Reigns described his vision of becoming the first full-time WWE star to simultaneously headline pay-per-views and lead feature films.

“I want to be the first guy who could do both, as opposed to—and I know John (Cena) did, and he did it his way—but to really be able to do both, and like damn near lead a movie, and then also still main event a pay-per-view,” Reigns said.

The 40-year-old superstar acknowledged that past performers often had to choose between wrestling and Hollywood, but insisted the industry has “evolved and grown” to allow crossover careers at the top level.

"The business is in—we've evolved and grown," Reigns said. "That's kind of where I'm trying to be ahead of the curve.

"And then, also, this isn't a business thing, but it's a personal thing, the most personal thing, really being able to balance home and road life—that's a key priority."

Film Projects in Motion for Roman Reigns

Reigns has already stepped into acting, appearing in "Hobbs & Shaw" and "The Wrong Missy". He is also set to appear in the upcoming comedy "The Pickup" and is reportedly in talks to play the lead in the live-action "Street Fighter" movie.

Despite those past commitments and his desire to become the lead actor of a future blockbuster, Reigns emphasized that Hollywood will not replace his wrestling career at any time while he's still capable of performing inside the squared circle.

“I don’t want to stop being a WWE superstar in order to wear other hats," Reigns said. "I’m always going to be a WWE superstar. I’m always going to be Roman Reigns. And I don’t want to ever have to choose.”
