In one of my very first wrestlers’ interviews, Scott Steiner said, to justify his attitude and character, “When you go to the circus, you want to see the freaks.” During the Halloween season, we can confess we love to be scared. We love to transgress the rules to find out this other part of each of us.
Since her first appearance in TNA Wrestling in 2016, Rosemary has been a steady and demonic Knockout. Her character has crossed the generations to become an icon. From the macabre cheerleader, speaking in riddles to Abyss and Crazzy Steve, “we”, as she loves to be called, have become the Demon Assassin. Rosemary is about not being afraid of any challenge, accepting her differences, and being a true trailblazer in the ring.
In her first months in TNA, Rosemary was like a strange puppet. With Crazzy Steve and Abyss, they formed Decay. After making sporadic appearances throughout the year, mainly as a valet, Rosemary made her in–ring debut, defeating Gail Kim, feuding with Rebecca Hardy. In November 2016, Rosemary started a feud with both Gail Kim and Jade. After Kim vacated the TNA Women’s Knockout Championship, Rosemary defeated Jade (aka WWE’s Michin) in a Six Sides of Steel Cage match to win the Championship.
Not only was Rosemary about to talk, but she was also able to scare and compete. A year after her debut, Rosemary started to explore her darker side when she defeated Jade in a Monsters Ball match at Genesis 2017. This bout was only the second Knockouts Monster’s Ball match in the company’s history. The character was taking shape, step by step. The wrestler was already fond of tacks and barbed wire.
A few weeks later, Rosemary would go on to defeat Jade once again, this time in a Last Knockout Standing match, to retain her championship and end their rivalry. After she saved Allie from an attack by Laurel Van Ness and Sienna, she refused to join their stable. Rosemary turned face for the first time since joining the promotion.
During the next few weeks, the story between Allie and Rosemary would continue. The Demon explained that “The Hive” sent her to protect Allie. At Slammiversary 2017, Rosemary was defeated by Sienna. She failed to regain the title in a Last Knockout Standing match. Rosemary was now unhinged; the character was fitting the wrestler like a glove.
When I talked to her for the first time, in early 2019, Rosemary was happy; “I love the reaction that I have right now because it came out so organically. The character of Rosemary literally evolved since she first came on the scene on IMPACT. Rosemary became a member of The Decay, and The Decay evolved to tell their own stories.”
“Now, Rosemary is by herself, and she’s continuing to evolve in this human world,” she added. “She’s an Outsider, and I’ve always been an Outsider who surrounded myself with other Outsiders, which is the case for people who aren’t accepted by society, perhaps. I think that the message that people latched onto was that she’s accepting her difference.”

She also quoted many people as influences for Rosemary. “The Undertaker is unreal and has always been. He’s also somebody who went through a lot of evolution throughout his career. And, at the same time, he has always had a presence, and that’s something I tried to emulate with Rosemary, even though she’s changed so much in just two years. She still holds herself with the same kind of presence.”
She added The Great Muta for “this cool supernatural element” that the mist is. Chris Jericho, “he has never been afraid to experience and keep refreshing his character.” The Monster Abyss, “We definitely took a lot more mentoring from Abyss. He had been there in the trenches for so many years, and he taught us so much, including the art of the Monsters Ball, in particular, something we’ve become quite fond of, and any sort of weapons used in matches”. And the ‘Amazon’ Chyna.
From 2017 to 2021, Rosemary, after once again saving Allie from an attack, was attacked by the debuting Taya Valkyrie. The feud would end with Rosemary defeating Valkyrie in a Demon’s Dance match. After a knee injury, Rosemary returned at Homecoming 2019, where she continued her storyline with Allie, who had turned on Kiera Hogan and allied with Su Yung.
At Against All Odds, Rosemary entered the Undead Realm to retrieve Allie’s soul, but was unsuccessful as Allie was “killed” by Yung. Rosemary and Yung would face in a Demon Collar match. At Slammiversary XVII, Rosemary competed for the Knockouts Championship in a four-way Monster’s Ball match against Jessicka Havok, Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie, and Yung.

We would find out about the Undead Realm, a very bizarre world led by Father James Mitchell and “Him.” A strange universe where souls can be resurrected, the Shadows order, and Hives travel to become better or badder. A supernatural space Rosemary could call home.
Rosemary found her family of mystery on TNA Wrestling. “The company refuses to go down and continue to plug forward and just do our own thing. We do get so much freedom to express ourselves and our ‘unique style’. What we bring to the ring might be suppressed in other places, and in Impact, we’re encouraged to freely go and be ourselves out there.”
In 2021, Crazzy Steve, Havok, and Black Taurus (now The Beast Mortos) joined Rosemary in a new version of Decay. On January 8, 2022, at Hard to Kill, Rosemary participated in the inaugural Knockouts Ultimate X match, something she pleaded for for many years. “We’ve been struggling for what we want, we didn’t think about it, but now it’s just another task, another adventure, with the Ultimate-X cables set just above grounds. But we are always ready, we are ready for the chaos and violence that that particular match brings, and we can’t wait to bring the Knockouts division into the Ultimate-X era.”

She added, “When we’re starting this year, this 2022 in the human reckoning, starting that with Hard to Kill and Ultimate-X, where do we go from there? You can only go up, you can only get more chaotic, more violent, and more extreme. We want it all, we want more Monsters Balls, we want to play with all the weapons. Perhaps we’ll have to bring some to this Ultimate-X, it is no-DQ after all.” When asked about what’s next for the Knockouts, she said, “The Queen of the Mountain definitely might be the last one.” The match would take place at Slammiversary 2022.
After the Death Dollz era, from 2022 to 2024, Rosemary came back to her original persona. She faced Masha Slamovich in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match at Genesis 2025, then Xia Brookside in a Monsters Ball match. Rosemary is and remains this scary woman who can terrify a whole roster. For nearly ten years, she has taken a genuine pleasure in scaring us, but for a good reason that your Nygma understood long ago.
The character stands for something different. It feeds an artistic need for the wrestler, but it has become an inspiration for the fans. “If I created Rosemary, her biggest legacy is showing kids coming up that they can be weirdos, be successful, and be themselves,” explains Rosemary. In fact, “we” are an example for the lost souls in quest of a way, a path, a goal. In fact, being a Monster has made Rosemary more human.
