  • Rusev has signed a new deal with WWE and has been spotted at their HQ.
  • WWE is on a streak of bringing in big names like Rey Fenix and Aleister Black.
  • Rusev had a memorable run in WWE, including the popular "Rusev Day" gimmick.

According to PWInsider, "It's Rusev Day, once again." The site has confirmed with multiple sources that Rusev (aka Miro in AEW) has been at the WWE HQ in Stamford, CT, all day today. He has apparently signed a new deal.

Rusev Is Returning To WWE

Per the report:

"According to those we've spoken with today, Rusev has signed with the company and was at HQ today to set the stage for his return. CJ Perry aka Lana was not with Rusev today. No word when Rusev will return on camera but he's back in the mix."

There were whispers that WWE might be looking to bring Rusev back after his run with AEW ended. That wasn't confirmed until this report, even if speculation was that his comeback was inevitable.

These are a few big weeks for WWE in terms of debuts and returns. Rey Fenix is set to make his debut for WWE on Friday's episode of SmackDown. Aleister Black is expected to return imminently. If Rusev is not far behind, that's three big names coming over and potentially a difference-maker for the company in terms of in-ring talent.

As far as creative plans, that much isn't clear. What brand he'll be on or who he'll feud with wasn't part of the report.

Rusev Had Tons Of Potential In WWE

Rusev, later known as Miro in AEW, had a memorable WWE run from 2014 to 2020. He debuted with Lana as the unstoppable Bulgarian powerhouse and quickly rose to prominence with an undefeated streak, capturing the United States Championship and feuding with top stars like John Cena. He even came down to the ring for a WrestleMania in a tank.

His "Rusev Day" gimmick became wildly popular in 2017, turning him into an unexpected fan favorite despite WWE’s reluctance to push him as a main event star.

Unfortunately, things went wrong when he later feuded with Bobby Lashley in a controversial storyline involving Lana leaving him and having an on-screen affair. He was eventually released from his WWE contract in 2020. Despite ups and downs, Rusev was someone that WWE could have done a lot with, which is why AEW was so eager to sign him. He wasn't used properly in AEW and floundered for most of his time there. WWE appears set to make things right.
