At Sunday night's Slammiversary pay-per-view, there were appearances by several names from TNA/Impact Wrestling's past in celebration of the promotion's 20th anniversary.

Those appearances included AJ Styles, Sting, and Kurt Angle sending in video messages that aired on the PPV. All three mentioned working with Samoa Joe as highlights of their time with Impact, but Joe didn't appear at Slammiversary in any capacity.

In a tweet on Monday morning, Joe explained that he wasn't asked to appear at Slammiversary -- nor was he available to appear. Joe wished Impact a happy anniversary and sent his best wishes to the company going forward.

"Dearest cackling hens. I wasn’t asked, or available, and it should not mar a great milestone set by Impact," Joe tweeted. "Happy Anniversary, and my best going forward to all involved."

Joe was also referenced in the main event of Slammiversary when Impact World Champion Josh Alexander did Joe's face wash and running boot spot against Eric Young.

Joe is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, X-Division Champion, Tag Team Champion, and Television Champion.

Joe is currently signed to AEW and holds the ROH Television Championship. He was released by WWE this January, marking the second time he had been let go by WWE within a nine-month period.

It was revealed earlier this month that Joe will be playing a role in Peacock's upcoming "Twisted Metal" series.
