Samoa Joe praises Swerve Strickland.

During a recent appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub, the reigning AEW World Champion candidly spoke about Swerve Strickland finding himself and how he’s now receiving fan support as a result.

“Swerve Strickland has been a guy who, in my estimation, has been kind of slept on by a lot of the fandom not really realizing what he’s capable of,” Joe said. “He’s had several characters, several opportunities through different companies, but now he’s kind of coming into his own. He has the ability to be himself. He put out his music the way he likes and it all fits together nicely.”

Joe also noted Prince Nana’s role and hailed him as one of Ring of Honor’s “unsung” managers.

“I think getting a guy like Prince Nana, who was a tremendous manager in ROH, in my opinion, one of our unsung guys at the time there, joining up with him just makes this really nice package that works really well for him. I’m so glad it’s coming together for him,” Joe said.

Samoa Joe recently defended his AEW World title against both Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page at AEW Revolution when he tapped out Page. Despite the loss, Strickland still has his eyes on Joe’s title.
