Secret tribute behind Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan’s gear at King and Queen of the Ring 2024 explained
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The King and Queen of the Ring PLE kicked off with the Women’s World Championship match. The champion, Becky Lynch , and the challenger, Liv Morgan , both wore ring gear that caught the attention of the WWE Universe. Most notably, fans believe that the duo had pre-planned a tribute to popular singer Britney Spears .

Lynch came out wearing a tuxedo-type fit while Morgan stunned in her all-red ring gear. Both outfits looked similar to Spears’ previous iconic outfits, which she wore during music videos and concerts. While the WWE Universe pointed out the parallel between the in-ring gears, neither Lynch nor Morgan are likely to confirm if it was a tribute.

Given the ending of their match, Becky Lynch has every right to be livid at the moment. The Man had the #1 contender in the Disarm-Her, closing in on a successful title defense. However, Dominik Mysterio appeared to ‘ensure’ that Liv Morgan wouldn’t walk out as champion. In doing so, he slid a steel chair inside the ring, which the 29-year-old star took advantage of.

Morgan delivered a DDT to Lynch on the chair, followed by an Oblivion, to pick up the win and become the new Women’s World Champion. More importantly, she officially completed her revenge tour by winning the same title Rhea Ripley vacated. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Morgan’s reign pans out.

Becky Lynch to invoke her rematch clause against Liv Morgan on Raw

Following her devastating loss against Liv Morgan, the cameras showed Becky Lynch visibly shouting at Dominik Mysterio backstage. Moments later, The Man claimed that she would go meet Raw GM Adam Pearce. Moreover, the Grand Slam Champion revealed that she would invoke her rematch clause, which was stated in her contract.

Just like that, it seems that a rematch between Lynch and Morgan will take place on tomorrow’s Raw episode. Interestingly, Big Time Becks hasn’t yet extended her WWE contract, which is very near its expiration. Not only do many expect her to re-sign, but she might end up receiving the most lucrative contract for a women’s wrestler.

After WrestleMania, rumors suggested that Lynch was set to take a break from wrestling. However, Rhea Ripley’s injury seemingly propelled WWE to bring her back. Having said that, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the veteran go on hiatus after clearing the air around her future.
