Serena Deeb says her match against Toni Storm is 20 years in the making.

At AEW Double or Nothing, Toni Storm will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Serena Deeb. The bout will mark Deeb’s return to pay-per-view after she missed over a year due to injury between October 2022 and January 2024.

Speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Serena Deeb discussed how her match against Toni Storm was not just four years in the making, but instead nearly two decades.

“This is four years in the making,” Serena Deeb said. “I’ve been at AEW for four years, right, the OG days when we were at Daily’s Place and no crowds, and fast-forward to now, it’s the hottest time in our company, and everything is going amazing. The women’s division is the hottest it’s ever been. MGM Grand, that’s massive.

“That’s probably one of the coolest places that I will have wrestled after this show. But this isn’t just four years. This is 20 years. I’m coming up, almost 20 years in this business, give or take, and I’ve seen it all. I’ve been in all the places, I’ve wrestled in all the countries, and here we are, Double or Nothing. It is the World Championship. In all of women’s wrestling, this is the goal, this is the prize.”

Serena Deeb: This Is My Moment

Serena Deen then called her bout against Storm the biggest match of her career and said it was her moment to finally rake it.

“This is the biggest match of my career,” Serena Deeb said. “I love Toni Storm, I love the ‘Timeless’ character and everything that she’s doing, and I have a lot of respect for her as a wrestler, but this is four years in the making at AEW, 20 years in the making of my professional wrestling career, and this is the moment for me to finally take it.

“I’ve been waiting, I’ve been watching a bunch of other women that, on their best day, couldn’t lace my boots, and this is it. This is the Professor Era.”

WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Double or Nothing as it airs on May 26.
