CM Punk was riding high in the main event of WWE SummerSlam 2025 after defeating Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship . Punk was on top of the world. Devastatingly, he wouldn’t celebrate for long. The words “Burn it Down” would blare through the speakers of MetLife Stadium, signaling the arrival of Seth Rollins.
No one expected him to be in New Jersey, considering he sustained an injury at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Well, it might have been a part of an ingenious plan to catch whoever the World Heavyweight Champion was, and ironically, it’s the man he screwed so many times for the past two years.
Seth Rollins would appear on the ramp in crutches, with Paul Heyman by his side, seemingly issuing a warning. Rollins would walk to the back before unveiling that he was not injured by dropping his crutches, grabbing the briefcase, and running down to the ring with a referee. Rollins would beat down Punk with the briefcase, as he cashed in and the bell rang. With one Stomp to CM Punk’s head, Seth Rollins is now the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
For only over five minutes, CM Punk was on top of the world, and it was gone in a flash.
Once again, Seth Rollins may have committed the heist of the century, or as Michael Cole referred to it as the “rouse of the century,” becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion once again, and once again, at the expense of CM Punk.
