The Miz and Jey Uso went to war this Friday on WWE SmackDown for their first-round John Cena “The Last Time is Now Tournament” match. Both men had a massive chip on their shoulder and wanted to advance in this tournament desperately to lay claim to the title of being the “Never Seen 17’s” final opponent.
The Miz had a significant history with John Cena, sharing the main event spotlight with the “Cenation” leader at WrestleMania XXVII, even beating the man on the “Grandest Stage of them All,” which not many have done. On the other hand, Jey Uso had a lot to prove, as he hadn’t had the best luck over the past few months when it came to winning. However, the “Main Event” Jey Uso era did kick off with him eliminating Cena last in the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble Match, and Uso might want to recapture that lightning in a bottle to get right back on track.
With both men having clear goals on why they want to win this tournament, the two went to work on SmackDown. Jey had control for most of the match. The Miz would not let up, though, “paying homage” or “taunting” John Cena, as he mounted a comeback, performing a couple of Shoulder Blocks, a Spin-Out Powerbomb, and a Five-Knuckle Shuffle.
Miz would get too cocky, even trying for an Attitude Adjustment. Uso would counter with a Superkick and would start to wrap things up. Jey Uso would catch fire, and hit Miz with all he’s got. After a counter to the Skull-Crushing Finale with a Spear, Jey Uso scaled the ropes and hit an Uso Splash for the win.
Jey Uso now joins two more men in the next round of the John Cena “The Last Time is Now” Tournament.
