Sol Ruca Vacates WWE Women’s Speed Championship

Sol Ruca has had another title snatched away from her. The double title holder is now titleless, with injury forcing her to vacate the WWE Women’s Speed Championship on WWE NXT last night.

Ruca was also stripped of her NXT Women’s North American Championship on last week’s episode of NXT. And to rub salt into the wound, she had to endure her ally Zaria losing her vacated North American title to Blake Monroe over the weekend at NXT Halloween Havoc. A new champion was always guaranteed, but unfortunately, Ruca’s tag team partner couldn’t overcome Monroe. It’s the British wrestler’s first WWE title since making the switch from AEW.

Ruca initially injured her knee during a tag team title match on SmackDown a fortnight ago. “Zaruca” looked to dethrone Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, but unfortunately, it wasn’t in the stars for the NXT pairing. Ruca was defeated by Flair’s devastating Figure 8 submission hold, causing the knee injury.

Speaking to Ruca on NXT last night, General Manager Ava, again, offered her the option to allow someone to defend the Speed Championship for her, much like Zaria did at Halloween Havoc. Ruca decided against that option, recognizing the importance of having a fighting champion in the Speed division.

Ava confirmed that a new women’s WWE Speed tournament will begin on next week’s episode to crown a new champion. The competitors have yet to be confirmed for the tournament. Ruca’s Speed reign comes to a close at 195 recognized days, having captured the title in April. She was the title’s second holder after inaugural champion Candice LeRae.
