Swerve Strickland recently shared his WWE-AEW transition experience in an interaction with Rich Eisen on The Rich Eisen Show. He was previously known as Isaiah Swerve Scott while working in WWE which has not had a smooth sailing stint before the superstars was released in November 2021. He is now flourishing in AEW, it seems this particular wrestler has found a new lane for himself that is defined by earned shots and a title run of some length. In this interview Strickland elaborates on his struggles during his tenure in WWE, the circumstances that led to his departure, and how wrestling in AEW has made it possible to reimagine his wrestling profession.
Swerve Strickland debuted in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) at Revolution on March 6, 2022, and reflected on what he expected from his new chapter, saying;
Opportunity and time, he responded. I worked my way up from the bottom, I don’t care. You can put me in battle royals, I’ll lose them all, I don’t care. Just give me the opportunity to show out.
Swerve Strickland explained his point of view that one has to make an effort every time and take an opportunity anytime they get it no matter how big or small. He also agreed with the fact that these changes do not occur often in the wrestling business, and even a single minute on the TV can be extremely vital, he shared;
It’s about opportunity because there’s a lot of people out there I know that are very, very talented that would dream of getting a minute’s worth of television opportunity.
He thinks that there is lots of talent still present but they need to be given a chance to utilize themselves in the wrestling world. They need a small amount of space to work on TV.
Swerve Strickland became more eye-catching when he won the AEW World Championship. He ascended to power in April taking the victory over Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty until his reign ended after 126 days. He managed to have successful title defenses against such competitors as Will Ospreay, Roderick Strong, Christian Cage, and Claudio Castagnoli. However, the title run was stopped on Sunday signifying the end of the chapter of his AEW career.
From his wrestling journey from WWE to AEW, fans get to see how Swerve Strickland fought for himself and how he found a way to thrive in the wrestling world. Though he has been fired from WWE through some ‘political transitions’, Strickland has made a roaring success out of AEW by working his socks off and is now bonded with Tony Khan.
Modern wrestling fans are witnessing one of those pro wrestlers who has earned the success he has achieved through hard work and a never-give-up attitude and that is why his AEW World Championship run speaks volumes. As he continues to evolve in AEW, Swerve Strickland’s story is one of perseverance, growth, and the pursuit of excellence in the face of challenges.
