The End Of An Era: Two Iconic Tag Teams Agree To One Final Battle
AEW

It's 2025, and The Hardy Boyz are still competing in incredible ladder matches like the one they won to become TNA Tag Team Champions at Slammiversary on Sunday night. Before Matt and Jeff had even left the ring, their old rival Bully Ray, better known to some as Bubba Ray Dudley, joined them, not only to congratulate them on their win, but also to challenge them to one final match.

The Hardy Boyz And The Dudley Boyz Will Wrestle Together One More Time

The Hardys won the TNA Tag Titles for the fourth time in their careers on Sunday night, beating three other teams in a ladder match, a match type they popularized and are synonymous with, in the process. Bully Ray ran through his and The Hardys long and storied history together when congratulating the wrestling brothers, throwing down the gauntlet once he was done.

The challenge was issued for Bound For Glory which unfortunately means we've got a little while to wait until we see there two legendary tag teams clash one last time - Bound For Glory takes place in October. However, we're getting the full Dudleys vs. Hardys experience as Bully confirmed D-Von will be his partner, noting that it will be the final time he calls on his kayfabe brother to "get the tables".

What exactly the match will look like hasn't been confirmed. The Hardys are best known for their work with ladders and the Dudleys for putting people through tables, hence the match type they helped create more than 20 years ago. However, they're all a lot older now. D-Von, in particular, has had various health issues, so the four of them might need to stick to the basics and just try to have an ordinary match, possibly with the titles on the line.

Will Edge & Christian Be Involved?

There's also the Edge & Christian of it all. You can't mention The Hardys and The Dudleys without also talking about Edge & Christian. It was them bringing chairs to the equation that completed the TLC formula. Fans have already noted the E&C reunion tease that started at All In. However, the veterans being tied to AEW might mean they can't be a part of the Hardys and Dudleys final match at Bound For Glory.

Fans have already pointed to this happening because of AEW having an Edge & Christian reunion, with some hopeful that they might be involved in the match somehow. If TNA didn't have a working relationship with WWE on the go, which was in full effect at Slammiversary, that might have been possible. As it stands, though, it seems unlikely.
