  • The Rock is likely done as "The Final Boss" in WWE storylines.
  • The Rock was not a fan of how the main event at WrestleMania unfolded.
  • The Rock praises John Cena's new heel persona and the engagement with fans.

The Rock appeared on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and talked about several topics, including the main event on Sunday at WrestleMania and why he wasn't involved. Saying he thought the show was great but he would have "finessed" a few things differently, The Rock also noted that his run as "The Final Boss" is likely on pause and that fans shouldn't expect to see him get involved in storylines in the near future.

The Rock Done As The Final Boss... For Now

The Rock discussed the idea of his return to WWE at Elimination Chamber and his involvement in the storyline with Cody Rhodes. He wasn't originally going to be at the event, but he noted Ariel Emanuel (TKO Owner and CEO of Endeavor) called and said the numbers were a little low. They wanted to know if they could get The Rock on the show and build things towards WrestleMania, making Elimination Chamber a show that fans have to tune into moving forward. WWE wanted to add a new level of anticipation for the event. He thought about it and got back to them with the idea of The Final Boss wanting Cody's soul.

The Rock also noted that he called Cody and John Cena after Elimination Chamber, as he wanted to take a step back so that the spotlight would shift to Cena's heel run as champion. He said they had already planted the idea of taking Cody's soul, but it was time to focus on Cena. "Let's not make it about Cody's soul or John's soul. Let's let them do what they do," he added. "I think the Final Boss' work is done." He said he was there if they needed him, but didn't want to interfere with the story.

The Rock said he loves Travis Scott, but seemed surprised at his involvement in the main event. He liked the finish for Cena, but would have finessed things a little differently. He noted that it was just his creative opinion.

The Rock Revealed Why He Didn't Come Back For WrestleMania

The Rock wasn't a huge fan of how the main event on Sunday unfolded. He would have done a few things differently. He says he understands that when people saw Travis Scott, they thought he was also coming out. McAfee said he knows that fans assumed he would show up but The Rock said that he didn't want to overstep and that they could insert Final Boss, "but where do we go?" He also noted other commitments, but "Why get involved in that finish when the spotlight should just be on John, 17, heel champion, what does 2025 look like?"

When it comes to the soul storyline, "We'll come back to it," The Rock noted. He said other guys want to sell their soul, and there are plenty of ways they can go. That might still include Cody.

The Rock focused on this being John Cena's story now and how he's telling the truth after 25 years of a dysfunctional relationship with the fans. The Rock believes Cena is now officially the GOAT and is going to have an insane run as a heel. "I love that the fans are so engaged and so connected to John's heel run." He then said Cena isn't a bad guy. He's a good guy who is telling the truth about 25 years of being cheered and booed every night.

He says there is no "blueprint for a heel John Cena" since it's never been done like this.
