TNA iMPACT Results And Review (01/01/26) – New Year’s Resolutions
Courtesy of TNA Wrestling

For a company that was supposed to close its doors so many times over the last 23 years, I see a healthy TNA Wrestling starting the year 2026. A new US TV deal, two live iMPACT coming on January 15 and 22, and the first PLE of the year, TNA Genesis , on January 17. The NXTNA partnership continues, with Leon Slater having an NXT Championship match on Tuesday against Oba Femi.

The iMPACT preview was clear. With four matches and a segment announced, the first TNA iMPACT of 2026 will be heavily tied to the upcoming events. The Thursday Night iMPACT premiere on AMC could be a game-changer. Let’s Nygma-dive into the TNA iMPACT results, as there are some things to say about it (as always).

The Nygma’s View

Elegant by Design

Before the match, Ash by Elegance came to congratulate Léi Ying Lee for being a hard-working TNA Knockouts World Champion. She said she sees a lot of herself in Lee, to the point of being a big fan. The Personal Concierge, Heather, and Maggie rushed to stop her. Ash shut them off, saying they need to work on respect and class.

Reigning TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions, The IInspiration, were watching the match backstage, probably looking at potential contenders. The Elegance Brand faced the Angel Warriors. Out of nowhere, Dani Luna pulled Léi Ying Lee off the apron and sent her into the steel ring post. The Elegance Brand delivered a double team dropkick to Brookside, securing the victory. Nygma says: We all know that Dani Luna wants another Knockouts title chance. Meanwhile, the IInspiration will have to wait to find contenders.

Mustafa Ali wins, Elijah prevails

Mustafa Ali, with the whole Order 4, took control with a rolling neckbreaker, followed by a standing Moonsault. The Home Town Man hit a bulldog to start building momentum, but The Great Hands allowed Ali to take back control. Ali put the Home Town Man away with the 450 Splash. After the match, Ali attempted to send a message to Elijah as Order 4 continued the assault on the Home Town Man. Elijah played mind games with the leader of Order 4. Nygma says: The Genesis match should be a First Guitar Match.

Milan Un-Miracled

TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella didn’t feel ready to talk about his daughter’s betrayal. He gave a paper to Gia Miller with words to be told. Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt later announced that Stacks will defend the TNA International Championship against Steve Maclin next Thursday.

The NXT Outlaws arrived. Arianna Grace explained that she lived in her father’s shadow for her entire life, which is why she betrayed Marella two weeks ago. Grace revealed that Marella did not inform her that she was no longer needed on TNA programming; she had to call travel to find out. Grace was now carving her own path alongside Stacks.

Mister and Miss Stone

Tessa Blanchard, Victoria Crawford, and Mila Moore looked to bounce back against Indi Hartwell, Jody Threat, and Jada Stone in a 6-Knockout tag team action. It didn’t take long before Robert Stone got involved, allowing Moore to take control of Miss Stone. Blanchard, Crawford, and Moore cut off the ring and wore Miss Stone down.

She created a separation and made the tag to Hartwell. The pace quickened as Hartwell went on the attack. The match began to break down as everyone got involved. Blanchard capitalized on another distraction from Mr. Stone, connecting with a Magnum on Miss Stone. Moore scored the pinfall to win. Nygma says: Nothing, I could be insulting.

The Righteous Gathers

After abducting Matt Hardy, The Righteous revealed more cryptic insight into their obsession with the TNA World Tag Team Champions. The Hardys interrupted them to tell Vincent and Dutch that they were not interested in mind games, but they were interested in a fight. The Righteous backed down as The Hardys looked on from the top of the ramp. Nygma says, What did you expect? A Peace & Love segment? Like Dutch said, “The difference between obsession and devotion is intention.”

The Rascalz Want a Title Chance

The Rascalz wanted a shot at the TNA X-Division Championship. Santino Marella made it official. TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater joined Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary as Trey Miguel, Myron Reed, and Zachary Wentz faced off for a title shot on the premiere of Thursday Night iMPACT on AMC.

Reed launched Miguel into a neckbreaker from Wentz. Everyone was down following a Blockbuster from Miguel. Reed and Miguel soared over the top rope with aerial offense to the floor. Wentz hit Miguel with the UFO Cutter. Reed caught both men with a springboard 450 to win. Nygma says: Why not Wentz? Why Reed again? That doesn’t really make sense.

Trust The System

We heard from The System as JDC’s retirement from in-ring competition approaches at Genesis. Eddie Edwards said that he is honored to face JDC in his final match. JDC went to Santino Marella and got one last “System Dance” next Thursday: they will face TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater, TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys, and Cedric Alexander.

Frankie Kazarian, who else?

Bear Bronson had Kazarian reeling in the early going as he retreated to the outside. Kazarian used the ropes to his advantage, gaining control with a Slingshot Leg Drop. Kazarian dominated for several minutes until Bronson created an opening. Bronson built momentum with a running powerslam. Bronson dove through the ropes, then sentKazarian into the steel ring steps.

Kazarian strangled Bronson’s eyes and slammed him into the steps. Bronson made it back into the ring before the 10-count. Kazarian hit the Fade to Black to remain TNA World Champion. After the match, Mike Santana announced that their scheduled TNA World Title match has been moved from Genesis to January 15 on the premiere of Thursday Night iMPACT on AMC. Nygma says: Beginner’s luck once, not twice, that was highly predictable.

The Best of the Rest

The Nygma’s Last Word(s)

I suspected there would be some changes due to the AMC premiere. I didn’t understand a lot of this episode. Dani Luna insinuated herself in a Tag Team match for a singles title bout. The Rascalz wanted another X-Division title chance. VixTess won (they cheat). Santino Marella was as energized as an alive octopus. That was puzzling, but that doesn’t mean the in-ring action was bad.

That’s all for the TNA iMPACT results of the week. The name “After The Bell” may have disappeared, but the Nygma spirit of the pieces will never disappear. If you want a dishonestly honest Nygma point of view, you’ll always find it here.

We are now in 2026, with TNA Wrestling on AMC and TNA Genesis PLE happening in two weeks. 2025 has been an incredible year for TNA Wrestling. Let’s hope 2026 will be as good, if not better. I turned 46, TNA will turn 24, aren’t we young? Till next week, may the Nygma be with you.
