TNA iMPACT Results and Review (01/08/26) – One Last AXS TV Dance
Courtesy of TNA Wrestling

With a new US TV deal, two live iMPACT coming on January 15 and 22, and the first PLE of the year, TNA Genesis, on January 17, TNA Wrestling is on fire. Then, the fire must burn the whole of 2026. Following the Albuquerque live episode and taping session on January 22 and 23, the schedule is clear, just as it was after TNA Bound For Glory.

The iMPACT preview was clear. With three matches and three segments announced, the last TNA iMPACT on AXS TV will be heavily related to the upcoming events. The Thursday Night iMPACT premiere on AMC could be a game-changer. Let’s Nygma-dive into the TNA iMPACT results, as there are some things to say about it (as always).

The Nygma’s View

The Hardys vs. The Righteous

We kicked things off with the TNA World Tag Team Champions, The Hardys. One week ago, The Righteous crossed the line when they involved the families of Matt and Jeff in their cryptic mind games. The Hardys laid out the challenge for a fight right now, but The Righteous turned them down. Instead, they will face off at TNA Genesis with the TNA World Tag Team Titles on the line. Nygma is used to saying: Let them eat cake.

Dani Luna finally has her Championship opportunity

Dani Luna kicked out at one following a bulldog from Harley Hudson. Luna quickly regained control and put Hudson away with the Luna Landing. After the match, the unhinged Luna took out Hudson’s tag team partner, Myla Grace. Léi Ying Lee came to their aid, but Luna put her to sleep. Xia Brookside is out next, but she felt the wrath of “Doomsday” Dani Luna, too. Luna posed with the TNA Knockouts World Championship in a field of bodies. Nygma says: Luna must remember before Genesis that being unhinged could prevent her from being Champion.

Order 4 says: no horse, no guitar!

Order 4 could not locate Special Agent 0. In fact, Elijah had taken him out. In the ring, Mustafa Ali addressed his upcoming match with Elijah at TNA Genesis. Ali proposed that TNA Wrestling ban all things Elijah, including concerts, guitars, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats. Ali berated the fans for their support of Elijah, who arrived on horseback. Elijah chased Order 4 out of the iMPACT Zone. Nygma says: No horse or guitar was harmed during the segment.

Steve Maclin wins and loses

Earlier that night, Steve Maclin told Gia Miller he wanted his title back. Eric Young came to recruit Maclin to reveal the truth to him. “The Cleanse is coming,” added Young.

The NXT outlaws provided a distraction at ringside, allowing Stacks to gain control. Stacks dropkicked Maclin to the outside, where the NXT outlaws assaulted him. The referee caught Tyriek Igwe trying to get involved once again and ejected him from ringside. Maclin took out the rest of the NXT outlaws while Arianna Grace watched on. Grace strangled Maclin’s eyes to cause the disqualification. After the match, the NXT outlaws swarmed Maclin. Nygma says, Predictable.

One Last System Dance

Before JDC retires from in-ring competition at TNA Genesis, he fought alongside his System‘s allies one last time as they battled TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater, Cedric Alexander, and TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys. Bodies were flying as everyone took to the skies for aerial offense. The System cut off the ring and wore Slater down.

Slater fought back with a handspring back elbow to Myers and tagged in Jeff. Myers counters the Twist of Fate to regain control. Moose hit Alexander with the Go To Hell as the match broke down. The Hardys teamed up with Slater for a double Plot Twist. Alexander rolled up Moose to score the victory for his team. Nygma says: One good point for Alexander before TNA Genesis, and a great bout.

The contract signing

Director of Authority Santino Marella presided over the TNA World Championship Contract Signing between Frankie Kazarian and Mike Santana ahead of their match next week on the premiere of Thursday Night iMPACT on AMC. Marella was still depressed as he buttoned Monday with Tuesday (our way to say: do your buttons up wrong).

The Best of the Rest

  • Ryan Nemeth attempted to flirt with Mara Sadè, but she made him pay with another superkick.
  • The Elegance Brand made a surprising choice for Mr. Elegance.
  • AJ Francis and Rich Swann’s issues exploded at a First Class Penthouse, with some tables involved.

The Nygma’s Last Word(s)

Despite some heavily predictable facts, this last TNA iMPACT on AXS TV was one hell of a good one. A part of me wanted to jump into the computer (I can’t watch TNA on TV) to do a big cuddle with Santino Marella. The Last System Dance was great. Elijah chasing Order 4 outside the building was so funny. The TNA Genesis card takes the right shape, even if I forgot how the “Zip” sound irritates me. That was a truly excellent episode.

That’s all for the TNA iMPACT results of the week. The name “After The Bell” may have disappeared, but the Nygma spirit of the pieces will never disappear. If you want a dishonestly honest Nygma point of view, you’ll always find it here. The show currently known as “TNA iMPACT” will change to “Thursday Night iMPACT” next week.

We are now in 2026, with TNA Wrestling on AMC and the TNA Genesis PLE happening in one week. Next week is historic, so I have a busy schedule of pieces to make sure you don’t miss a bit. Till next week, may the Nygma be with you.
