The go-home edition of TNA iMPACT just days before the Genesis pay-per-view took place on Thursday night. Mere hours after a multi-year partnership between WWE and TNA Wrestling was announced, the stars of iMPACT were looking to make one final statement before Sunday’s PPV. Who was able to gain momentum going into TNA Genesis?
Frankie Kazarian served as a guest commentator for the opening match. Early in the match, Seven found himself stumbling to the outside. Slater went high-risk but was countered and planted with a snap dragon suplex. Back in the ring, Slater nearly stole a pin with a rollup off a suplex attempt, but no dice. With both men on the top rope, Slater went for a superplex but was countered with a modified scoop slam. Seven hit the Seven Star Lariat, followed by a twisting piledriver, but Slater kicked out at two. Slater escaped Birminghammer once but couldn’t avoid it the second time with another kickout.

He discussed the ups and downs throughout his career. Hendry said that while he could go back to being a “comedy guy,” he wants to find out if he can become a world champion. Hendry promised to capture the top men’s title in TNA this Sunday.

Jordynne Grace made a surprise appearance at the commentary desk briefly. She claimed that Tessa Blanchard hadn’t agreed to their match at Genesis. She left her signed contract on the desk and said if Tessa doesn’t show up, it wouldn’t be the first time she’s let TNA down.
Both Joe Hendry and Nic Nemeth were in the ring. The challenger spoke first and said the realest thing he’ll ever sayto the champion is that he has to win at Genesis. He guaranteed a new era of TNA will begin with him lifting the world championship.
Nemeth said he understands how much the match means to Hendry. With that said, Nemeth made it clear that he knows what it means to be the TNA World Champion. He said he doesn’t know if Hendry is truly ready to hold the TNA World Championship. Nemeth then had the production truck play a clip of John Layfield attacking Hendry and Ryan Nemeth at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view. Nic insisted that he had nothing to do with Layfield’s attacks.
Hendry said he wanted to know one thing from Nemeth, but Ryan interrupted. Ryan told Nic that Hendry was not his friend. He claimed Hendry was a snake trying to get in the champion’s head. Ryan charged at Hendry in the ring, but he was lifted up for the Standing Ovation. Before Hendry could land the move, Nic landed a Super Kick.
