Tony Khan is confident AEW will end up with a “tremendous deal” when a new media rights agreement is reached.

As reports regarding WBD’s negotiations to retain the NBA made headlines this week, Khan spoke with Sports Illustrated about his company’s ongoing discussions for the rights to its programming. Khan says people can expect “a tremendous deal for AEW” to be announced later in the year and promised fans they are in a “great position” in negotiations.

“It’s a really exciting time for AEW,” said Khan. “We’re in active negotiations for the AEW media rights. Warner Bros. Discovery continues to be the best possible partner, and they’ve helped us grow this brand. It’s going to be a very exciting remainder to this year, and we’ll find out where AEW is going to live.”

“For everyone who cares about AEW all over the world, we’re in a great position. This is going to work out really well for AEW. We’re having great talks, and people should feel very confident about what that means for the wrestlers, the staff, and the fans. As a result of everyone’s hard work and endless support from the fans, there will be a tremendous deal for AEW. The outlook for the company is so bright moving forward.”

All Elite Wrestling is celebrating its fifth anniversary tonight as it presents the sixth edition of Double or Nothing, the first pay-per-view under the AEW banner. The five-year history of AEW was the feature story in Friday’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Our own Dave Meltzer addressed the importance this year holds for the promotion:

“Ever since WBD earmarked Collision last year, giving AEW five hours of weekly television on TBS and TNT, it was known that 2024 would be the most important year, since the first year, in company history. The promotion, No. 2 in the world in popularity and revenue, as well as expenses, celebrates five years since its debut show, the first Double or Nothing, with a PPV at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas,” Meltzer wrote.
