AEW CEO Tony Khan has given an update on one of AEW’s first homegrown talents – Dr. Britt Baker DMD. It’s been a long time since fans have seen her, so what’s her status with the company, even? Khan revealed that during a recent interview.
Khan was a guest on Z100 New York’s “Superstar Crossover,” where he was asked about Baker’s status with the company. Surprisingly, he said that Baker is indeed still with the promotion. He said:
“What a great star in AEW Dr Britt Baker has been. She is still a fantastic, fantastic wrestling star. She's been away from AEW for a while, but still very much with us, and at some point hopefully soon, I'd love to see Dr Britt Baker come back." (h/t: WrestlePurists)
Baker has been with AEW since the beginning. Britt is a one-time AEW Women’s Champion, holding the title for 290 days. She’s feuded with the likes of Riho and Thunder Rosa,
It’s been almost a year since Baker has been in the AEW ring. Her last match was on the November 13, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite. There, she had defeated Penelope Ford. While she’s not dealing with an injury at the moment, she has dealt with several issues in her career. Both physically and mentally.
Back in July 2024, Baker had revealed she had suffered a mini stroke. This was when she made her return to the company in July 2024 after being gone since September 2023. Her return match was her defeating Hikaru Shida at the Blood & Guts 2024 pay-per-view on July 24, 2024.
She only wrestled five matches in 2024. Along with past injuries, there have been some backstage issues. In 2024, Baker was suspended from AEW for a few weeks because of a backstage altercation involving MJF. Baker was said to have backstage problems with Rosa as well. Though from the sounds of it, Khan is pretty adamant about her returning to the company.
What’s also worth bringing up is that her social media account is pretty clear of her work in AEW, and she has mostly been posting about football and “Dancing with the Stars.” It will be interesting to see if Baker returns to the company after almost a full year, and to see who she will pick first to feud with.
