SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis could reportedly welcome one of NXT's top stars to his roster soon after receiving glowing reviews from WWE's higher-ups.
Shawn Michaels has an impressive roster of talent on the NXT roster, which includes reigning NXT World Champion Oba Femi and former AEW star Ricky Saints. The developmental brand just held their August PLE, NXT Heatwave, and it received much praise.
Two superstars who were in action were Chelsea Green and Ethan Page, who teamed up in a mixed tag team competition and defeated Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele. The pair recently aligned due to their Canadian roots and have been a huge hit, not just with fans, but also with WWE's creative team, including Shawn Michaels.
Page has been on NXT since May 2024, but could soon be landing on the main roster alongside Green to continue their partnership. Wrestlevotes reports that "several main roster creative would like to see the newly formed duo appear on SmackDown in the near future".
This is a significant development, given Michaels called them his most entertaining act on WWE TV earlier this week. It has long been speculated that Page will be one of the next call-ups, as he has been monitored to make his way onto the main roster.
Hays added that creative are "impressed" with Page and Green's on-screen chemistry and that they believe their Canadian heel faction would "immediately establish him as an important player".
Chelsea Green uses social media effectively to get her gimmick over, and one of her most popular recent TikToks saw her and Page show off their Canadian pride. It's said that there was "heavy praise" from the creative in response to this video, which currently sits on 107k likes on TikTok.
Ethan Page took his time in becoming a WWE superstar after initially dreaming he'd do so at the age of 25. The 35-year-old worked in the indy scene and AEW before arriving in the Stamford-based promotion, where he's more than caught the eye with his heel persona in NXT.
All Ego will be eyeing more gold should he move to SmackDown, whilst potentially continuing his partnership with Green and her faction, The Green Regime, alongside Piper Niven and Alba Fyre. He told Busted Open Radio back in September 2024: "To me, WWE was always the end goal... the goal is to move on and win championships like the Intercontinental Title, the U.S. Title, the World Heavyweight Championship."
Page could follow in the footsteps of some of Canada's wrestling heroes, such as Bret Hart, whom he watched defend a title in WWF title at the age of five: "To hold a championship that some of my favorites held ... that is what I want to bring to the table, to add my name to the history books of the biggest and best ever."
There is no word on how immediate a possible call-up could be but fans can expect to see Page continue to partner Green. SmackDown could do with more heels and he does have history with the current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes from their time together in AEW.
