Triple H teases a rematch between Randy Orton and Gunther following controversial ending to their showdown at King and Queen of the Ring
Saul Young/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

What could’ve easily been the match of the night between Randy Orton and Gunther at King and Queen of the Ring was marred by a dubious ending. Even though The Ring General was crowned the King of the Ring, there’s more to it. Orton’s left shoulder wasn’t even down on the mat when the referee counted him down to a three-count. And now, Triple H has his say.

After the PLE, the WWE CCO was interviewed by Byron Saxton. Even though he was out there live in-person for the match, Triple H said it was very difficult to witness what transpired during that roll-up pin from his vantage point. However, upon returning backstage, Hunter saw the replay and admitted that Randy Orton‘s shoulder wasn’t down at all.

He then said that the referee’s decision is final and that Gunther is still the 2024 King of the Ring winner. Having said that, The Cerebral Assassin said he wants both KOTR finalists to run it back. He further affirmed that The Viper deserves to have another shot at the crown. The Game even stressed that the Austrian would himself want to wipe off the brewing controversy and prove to everyone that he’s miles ahead of The Legend Killer.

...........That being said, especially after what I saw tonight, I certainly wanna see that again. I think Randy Orton deserves to have another shot at that.......... Triple H on the controversy surrounding Randy Orton vs. Gunther

Triple H didn’t officially confirm whether there would be a rematch or not. However, it’s clear as daylight that WWE has turned this around into an angle. At last, the Chief Content Officer of WWE said that Orton’s body was completely banged up after that hammering from the Imperium leader. It would be interesting to see how things pan out, beginning this week on Raw to SmackDown.

Triple H also confirmed a world title match for WWE Clash at the Castle

The King of Kings really had a field day at King and Queen of the Ring in Jeddah yesterday. He not only bestowed the respective crowns on Nia Jax and Gunther, but Triple H also announced a blockbuster match for WWE’s upcoming PLE.

With that being said, Damian Priest will now defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash at the Castle on June 15. The event will be held in Scotland, which is McIntyre’s own den. Priest is in for a long night, one would imagine.

He won the world title at WrestleMania XL after cashing-in his Money in the Bank contract on an already laid-out Scottish Warrior. Almost two months later, the two will square off against each other one-on-one. Will the local favorite fulfill his destiny remains to be seen.
