Bully Ray has advised Triple H to keep Charlotte Flair out of the women's world title picture to build fans' desire to see her back on top. The Queen was renowned for constantly either defending or chasing the Women's World Championship but has sat out of the main event scene over the past year.
Charlotte returned at the 2025 Royal Rumble after a lengthy spell out due to a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. She won the Rumble but unsuccessfully challenged Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania 41.
The 14-time women's world champion has taken a backseat to the likes of Stratton and Jade Cargill, instead entering the tag division with Alexa Bliss. They are the reigning WWE Women's Tag Team Champions and have earned glowing reviews for their reign, which has helped elevate the titles' prestige.
Bully Ray thinks Charlotte should continue to compete lower down the card, so fans will want to see the 39-year-old with a world title again. The WWE Hall of Famer said on the Busted Open podcast:
"I would keep Charlotte Flair out of the World Championship picture for so long that the people want to see her come back,” Bully Ray said. “And they cheer for her when she comes back. But in order for that to happen, I believe you need to build another Charlotte Flair, which ain’t happening any time soon."
Charlotte had been criticised whenever in the main event spotlight because of her longevity in such a position, and fans had wanted to see others afforded opportunities. But she has produced some of her best work to date with Bliss, getting fans on board as she helps the younger generation shine.
Ray thinks WWE needs to build up a star to a level that makes Charlotte the only credible rival:
"You’d have to build somebody that had a grasp on the women’s championship for so long, that they blew through the entire locker room, and basically it’s like ‘Who the hell can possibly stop this woman?’ And that’s when Charlotte steps up and goes ‘Remember me?'"
Charlotte's last reign as a world champion ended in April 2023 at WrestleMania 39 when she was defeated by Rhea Ripley. She is now at a stage of her career where she is thriving as a babyface alongside Bliss in their tag team.
The obvious answer is Jade Cargill, given SmackDown's 'Storm' looks likely to become the next WWE Women's Champion. She is set to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the title at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend (November 1st).
But that seems too soon to throw her back into the mix and have her re-enter the world title picture in another WrestleMania season, defeating the purpose of her absence from the main event. Several members of the women's division could do with the rub from the Queen, and that includes NXT stars.
Further down the line, a name like former TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace or reigning NXT Women's North American Champion Blake Monroe could be a perfect rival at the top of the card for Charlotte. But for now, she should continue to enjoy her tag team run with Bliss, who may well be the one to turn heel when they inevitably split down the line.
