TripleMania XXXIII 2025 Results: El Hijo Del Vikingo Wins With The Help of AJ Styles

AAA’s annual TripleMania XXXIII (the promotion’s version of WrestleMania) was live from Mexico City at the Arena CDMX in Azcapotzalco, and while the Ciudad de México (translated as Mexico City Arena) has hosted the yearly event since 2012, this year represented an entirely new era for the company. The show is being streamed live on AAA’s main YouTube channel, and, for the first time, simulcast on WWE’s own YouTube channel to maximize exposure to the North American fanbase.

WWE’s acquisition of AAA has made the brand hotter than ever. Although many longtime fans have worried that the traditions and bookings would change, the inclusion of WWE stars has helped raise the profile of many homegrown talents within Triple A.

Like the initial show that kicked off the merger, Corey Graves and Konnan were on commentary this time, joined by JBL on commentary. Rey Mysterio, who has been a significant ambassador in the efforts to bridge the gap between brands, inducted his longtime friend and mentor Konnan into the AAA Hall of Fame.

El Hijo Del Vikingo(c) vs. Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee vs. El Grande Americano—AAA Mega Championship

El Grande Americano delivered his own entrance music on his way out to the ring—a rendition of “Cielito Lindo” that the Mexican fans responded rather well to, and was not half bad considering German is more his native tongue. Dragon Lee also received a lavish entrance while Dom let his heat do all the ‘walking.’

Vikingo was last out before all four participants were given championship intros, with Dom receiving the biggest pop and the champ being booed the loudest. The match started quickly for the champ, defending his title for the third time in his second reign.

It was non-stop action early and often, but the match script resembled a sort of hybrid approach to lucha meets high-paced PLE matches within WWE. The incredible athleticism on display eventually gave way to all of the shenanigans.

The Judgement Day eventually interfered, but it was the least crazy intrusion as multiple El Grande Americanos entered the match attempting to aid El Grande Americano Prime win the match to no avail. While LWO neutralized Judgement Day, Dom tried to win with the loaded mask. That is when a masked figure (not that weird in this match on this card) came out to prevent Dom from picking up the win.

The masked figure revealed himself to be AJ Styles, the crowd went nuts, delivering a Styles Clash to Dom and allowing Vikingo to hit his 630 senton for the win.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, T.J. McDonagh, Raquel Rodriguez) vs. Mr. Iguana, Nino Hamburguesa, and Lola Vice—Mixed Trios Match

The fandom that occupies the WWE Universe(c) (or at least those that might cry over a stuffed Iguana) might’ve enjoyed this match most of all as Finn Balor and gang participated in a mixed 6-person tag that was booked with traditional lucha spots that force you to be a kid again. Mr. Iguana has gotten over huge with the American fanbase because stuffed animal gimmicks are a universal language.

Mr. Iguana eventually received the hottest hot tag of the night, and when he was in the ring with his pet Iguana, Finn Balor debuted his own stuffed puppet in the form of ‘Demonito.’ The moment caused a huge pop, as predicted, but the fans did not get a chance to come down as Hamburguesa busted out the burgers.

The Judgment Day managed to pick up the victory in a fun affair, and it might answer all those in search of their ‘favorite Lola Vice match.’

El Hijo De Dr Wagner Jr. vs. El Mesias—AAA Latin American Championship

Dr. Wagner Jr. picked up the win with his father, Dr. Wagner Sr., by his side, helping to contain Dorian Roldan—Mesias’s manager. Junior used the ‘Wagner Driver’ to secure victory.

Pagano & Psycho Clown vs. Los Garza(c)—AAA World Tag Team Championship

Pagano and Psycho Clown kept the honor and returned the titles to the promotion after Angel and Berto went on a promotional tour with the straps. Psycho Clown and Pagano continue their success in and out of the ring as some of the more successful crossover stars thus far in the WWE-owned era.

Flammer(c) vs. Faby Apache vs. Natalya—AAA Reina de Reinas Championship

Flammer retained in this fairly fast-paced affair with Natalya, mostly there for the rub she delivers whenever that music hits (she was never winning, but her presence was a great addition). The match was terrifically paced and one of the better triple-threat women’s matches in any promotion this year.

The champ was able to hold onto her title and showcase in front of some of the most important names in wrestling.

Copa Bardahl Match (BATTLE ROYAL)—Copa Bardahl TROPHY

The rules of a lucha battle royal can be a lot like futbol (soccer, if you prefer) for American fans—it can take some time to understand what they’re watching, but learning during the right “game” can create a fan for life. Like traditional battle royals, you can be eliminated over the top, but you can also be pinned and submitted.

Tonight’s multi-man match had the responsibility of opening the show and heating up the crowd for the rest of the evening’s action. There were many AAA favorites like La Parka and Octagon, while WWE stars like Otis and Joaquin Wilde were also participants.

Omos, the former WWE superstar currently wrestling in Japan, made a shocking entrance and dominated from the moment he entered. There was a showdown with Otis, but all eyes were on all 7 foot 3 inches of Omos’s showdown with Microman (3’3”). The spot popped the crowd when the undersized wrestler with a huge heart stood up to the giant, but he was eventually tossed over the ring to a handful of luchadores on the outside.

Omos eventually won the match by eliminating runner-up La Parka, prompting many to wonder if Omos is coming in because it does not make sense to put him over if he’s working in another promotion.
