It was only a matter of time before we saw the sight that we were met with on Monday Night. After over two years and no shortage of trials, tribulations, and brotherly animosity, the Usos are back on top of WWE’s tag team pinnacle, doing so for the ninth time.
The last few months have been an emotional roller coaster for Jey Uso, who has struggled with self-doubt, failure, and disappointing letdowns. After riding the high of being champion, it all came crashing to a halt when Uso lost the title back to Gunther, only to go on a bit of a losing streak that was highlighted by Uso being his own worst enemy. A series of mistakes and lost focus led Uso to a critical juncture. Would he listen to the words of Roman Reigns, who told him to do whatever it took to get back to the top no matter who he needed to step over on his way there. Or would he listen to his twin, who knew better than anyone what Jey needed to get back to being himself. There was even a point where Reigns and Jimmy Uso were shown having tension as Reigns accused Jimmy of telling Jey to ignore his advice.
In the end, Jey decided to listen to himself and as it turns out, both his cousin and brother in the process. Just three weeks ago, Jey’s brother came to him with a pitch. Jimmy said what Jey needed – what they both needed – was to get back to basics and what made them who they were. They needed to get back to being the Usos. While Jimmy and Jey had tagged on and off in 2025, this marked the brothers officially reuniting for the first time in over a year. In doing so, they made their goals clear. For Jey to get his confidence back, Jimmy said they needed to get gold around their waist once more.
And sure enough, just three weeks after re-entering the tag team division, Jimmy and Jey managed to accomplish something that alluded them for over two years (the longest such period of their careers) by regaining the tag team championships. The Usos enter 2026 in their ninth reign as champs and perhaps stronger than ever. Because while the duo are still beloved fan favorites (and that much was clear when AJ Styles kicked out of the Uso Splash at the last second and fans chanted that the ref sucked), the edge that they developed while part of the Bloodline is there too. On multiple occasions, Jimmy and Jey utilized their decades of tag team mastery to land a few cheapshots behind the ref’s back. It seems unlikely WWE will have the brothers turn heel again, but rather embrace a role more mired in the gray. The Usos are still the Usos of their youth, but they are also the Usos of the last five years bringing with them their experiences and everything they learned while under the Reigns and Paul Heyman learning tree. And it’s for that reason that the rest of Raw’s tag team division should be put on notice. Because this Usos might be the most dangerous of all.
