Gunther has come in for criticism from a WWE Hall of Famer who used the Ring General as an example of a pro wrestler whose in-ring style he doesn't respect.

The Austrian heavyweight is one of the most brutal opponents to come up against, due to his stiff style, which the likes of Vader have inspired. One of his trademark moves is his chop, which often leaves his rivals bruised and wearing the scars of war.

"It's Bulls---"- Bret Hart Slams Gunther's Wrestling Style

Bret Hart isn't afraid to give his verdict on any topic in pro wrestling and he's still embroiled in a real-life feud with former WCW rival Goldberg over the recently retired former WWE Champion's in-ring style. Gunther is the latest to be criticised by the Hitman who hit out the 37-year-old (via The Masked Man Show):

"The best wrestling has to pretend to be real. That’s what I did, I tried to make it as real as I could. Contrary to that Gunther guy, who seems like a nice enough guy when I met him, but I hate wrestlers that hurt each other on purpose. I hate it when you’re out there and getting beat up and hurt by a guy for real. Like chops. Who ever won a fight with a chop? What a waste of time."

Gunther isn't the first to use chops in WWE, which Hart alluded to:

"I used to wrestle Ric Flair and wake up going, ‘Why am I hurting so much? Doesn’t Ric Flair know it’s a show?’ It’s not supposed to be real. I’m not supposed to wake up with a really sore chest.

Hart revealed that he'd spoken to Gunther about his wrestling style and suggested he thinks the former two-time World Heavyweight Champion is "unprofessional":

"I have no respect for guys that hurt each other all the time. It’s just to me, lazy, shit wrestling when guys like Gunther…I’ve told him this to his face, it’s bulls---. When you’re hurting somebody for real, you’re unprofessional. I wrestled guys and never hurt anybody."

Gunther recently encountered Hart on an episode of RAW and teased the two-time WWE Hall of Famer by informing him that he was his second favourite wrestler behind Goldberg. The Canadian's comments are just the latest of his tirade against wrestlers who endanger their opponents.

Bret Hart Named Gunther's Rival The Best Wrestler In The World

While Hart seemingly isn't Gunther's biggest fan, he certainly admires the man whom he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to at SummerSlam. He squared off with CM Punk in one of the best matches of the PLE's first-ever two-night event, losing to the Best in the World after being bloodied and hit with two Go To Sleeps.

During the weekend, Hart was interviewed by Complex Sports and asked to name the best wrestler in the world today. He responded:

“There’s a lot of really good wrestlers. I mean, I’m a forever Rey Mysterio fan. I love watching Rey even now today, especially as he gets older. But I’m also a big fan of Roman Reigns, and I think if I had answered the question, I’d say CM Punk."

Punk has long been viewed as one of the best storytellers in the ring and he feels he's produced the best work of his career since returning at Survivor Series in November 2023. His world title celebrations at SummerSlam were cut short by Seth Rollins who cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to steal the world title.
