The ending of the May 27, 2025 episode of NXT was shocking to everyone. Stephanie Vaquer defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Jacy Jayne in the last match of the night. Jayne was accompanied by the other members of Fatal Influence, which ended up being very beneficial to her.

While Vaquer was caught in the ropes, Jazmyn Nyx distracted the official, allowing Fallon Henley to kick her in the face. That caused Jayne to hit the pinfall, allowing her to be the new NXT Women’s Champion. Everyone was shocked in the arena.

The crowd and announcers were silent, which never happens. Even Mike Rome stared in disbelief before announcing the new champion. It’s obvious that no one suspected Vaquer to be defeated at the time.

Sometimes, surprising title changes are good and, in the case of Jacy Jayne, very well deserved for many reasons.

Jacy Jayne Waited Four Years to Become NXT Women’s Champion

One of the biggest reasons why Jacy Jayne became NXT Women’s Champion is because of all the hard work she’s done in NXT. She was signed in February 2021, which was over four years ago.

Since then, she has been an integral part of Toxic Attraction, was NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion twice alongside Gigi Dolin, and was a member of Chase University for a few months before forming Fatal Influence. Jayne was also a part of NXT’s final WarGames event before it became a PLE on the main roster.

Even though things didn’t work out with Toxic Attraction and Chase University, she kept delivering great matches that entertained the fans. Last Tuesday’s victory was the reward for all the hard work she’s put in over the last four years. Everything she’s gone through has paid off in the form of a very deserving championship win.

Jacy Jayne’s Win Shocked Everyone

When there’s a dominant champion, it’s easy to predict when they’ll retain the title. You root for the underdog because if they win, it’ll be very unexpected. But when those moments do happen, you get reactions like the ones from everyone inside the Performance Center last Tuesday.

For a few seconds, the only thing that could be heard was the Fatal Influence theme music. As strong as Stephanie Vaquer was, no one thought that Jacy Jayne would’ve taken the title off of her. That’s another reason why she won the title.

Last week, Adam Pearce announced that Vaquer was going to Monday Night Raw. Having her lose to someone not just unexpected, but someone who has put in the work for years, was a great decision. Jacy Jayne taking the title off Stephanie Vaquer was a great way to recognize how much she has done for NXT.

Jayne’s Win Marks the High Point in Her NXT Career

Aside from getting called up to the main roster, winning the NXT Championship is the highest achievement you can get as an NXT wrestler. After four long years of battling, that is what Jacy Jayne did last Tuesday.

Some wrestlers won the title within weeks or months of their debut. She had to go through so much before even getting a title opportunity. The release of Mandy Rose, a vicious breakup with Gigi Dolin, and a fallout with Thea Hail are just some of the things that could’ve legitimately sunk her career.

But Jayne kept delivering great matches that kept the interest of NXT’s loyal fanbase. They never gave up on her, even though it seemed like her career stagnated several times. Jacy Jayne never stopped working hard and got rewarded with the NXT Women’s Championship, something that was earned through many years of dedication and hard work.
