Kendal Grey is one of the wrestlers who have really raised their stock in 2025. She made her debut as a relatively unknown wrestler, mainly competing on NXT Level Up. However, since her debut in WWE Evolve, she has shown off her impressive wrestling ability and mind.
She became Evolve Women’s Champion in September by defeating Kali Armstrong. Since then, she has successfully defended it against Chantel Monroe, Lash Legend, and, most recently, Lainey Reid.
When she defeated Reid, she sparked a huge rivalry with Fatal Influence. Alongside Wren Sinclair, they have battled the impressive faction for several weeks. At New Year’s Evil, Grey faces Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship. She has a chance to be yet another NXT double champion, something that’s been a trend for several months now on the brand. With call-ups on the horizon, now is the time to crown Grey as NXT Women’s Champion.
For people who don’t know, WWE Evolve is broadcast on Wednesdays on Tubi. It’s a show featuring WWE ID prospects, wrestlers from the WWE Performance Center, and NXT wrestlers.
Grey is currently the Evolve Women’s Champion. There’s a lot of great matches and storylines on the show, with many of them hopefully moving up to NXT in the new year. A Grey championship win would make her a double champion, while also encouraging people to check out Evolve.
She could relinquish her current title. If she doesn’t, she’ll be wrestling on both brands. People who have never seen Evolve before but like Grey would probably get interested in what the brand is about. That will help these fans know more about the wrestlers who will probably be called up in the near future. Grey’s winning would not only help her but also Evolve as a whole.
If Jayne does lose the NXT Women’s Championship next Tuesday, WWE management will have a decision to make. Will she go up to the main roster, or will she stay in NXT? Either course of action sounds like a good idea. She would go up after five incredible years in NXT with multiple championship reigns. There’s no reason why Fatal Influence shouldn’t continue if she goes up alone. Henley and Reid could easily continue the group.
If she stays, she’ll have a chance to become the only woman to hold the NXT Women’s Championship three times. That will firmly give her a separate place in NXT history. Stand and Deliver is a few months away, and WWE always wants to make the best possible card. Having a rematch there if Grey wins could be either a history-making day or a perfect send-off for Jayne.
Jayne has done a lot in NXT since her debut in 2021. She’s been a part of two successful factions in Toxic Attraction and Fatal Influence. Her many title reigns have been entertaining, and she has proven that she can be an entertaining and reliable champion. However, putting the NXT Women’s Championship on Grey will help both of them. For Grey, she gets to become a double champion if she chooses not to give up her Evolve Women’s Championship.
Her win would also get some eyes on Evolve, which showcases WWE’s future stars. Jayne has some options if she loses. She can permanently go up to the main roster after many years in NXT. But, she can also have a rematch at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver if that’s the plan. Grey winning at New Year’s Evil would positively impact both of their careers.
