WWE's post-WrestleMania talent release tradition hits its women's tag division hard, with multiple talented female superstars released from their contracts.

Fightful reports that WWE released more than a dozen wrestlers on Friday.

Among those released are members of Raw, SmackDown and NXT women's tag divisions, most notably four-time women's tag team champion Dakota Kai and three-time women's tag team champion Shayna Baszler.

The tag team duo Katana Chance and Kayden Carter was also among those released, along with Gigi Dolin and her former Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic partner Cora Jade.

Finally, MetaFour's Jakara Jackson was also released on Friday, last appearing on the Tuesday's episode of NXT, where MetaFour disbanded, agreeing to part ways to pursue singles aspirations. Jackson's former tag team partner, Lash Legend, remains in NXT and now appears to be WWE's next singles prospect in the roster.

A total of 15 wrestlers were released, including male wrestlers Braun Strowman, Eddy Thorpe, Riley Osborne, Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey, Wolfgang, Oro Mensah and Javier Bernal.

WWE releasing these superstars further weakens its already debilitating women's tag team division. Fans criticized Triple H's booking of the women's tag team titles in WrestleMania, where Women's Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch won the titles from Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, only to lose the titles back to them the following Raw and set up a match between the two on Backlash.

More criticisms came when it was revealed that Liv Morgan will take significant time off to shoot an upcoming film, as PWInsider reports . Her upcoming absence was explained on TV as Morgan taking some time off, which on-screen acting Raw General Manager Nick Aldis allowed.

With Morgan off TV, the Women's Tag Team Championships are effectively held hostage by Judgment Day, with no other tag team being able to compete for it for the time being. Fans are baffled as to why WWE decided to have Valkyria and Lynch drop the belts to Morgan and Rodriguez, knowing full well that Morgan will be out of action.

This, along with the lack of strong contenders to Morgan and Rodriguez, has left fans dissatisfied with the current state of WWE's women's tag division.
