This year, Survivor Series: WarGames will take place in San Diego, California. For the event to take place over there, WWE should not go without having Dominik Mysterio compete in his hometown. Mysterio has been on one thrilling run as Intercontinental Champion. What if WWE tests Dominik Mysterio by giving him his toughest opponent yet?
During John Cena’s retirement tour, he has been vocal about his desired opponents, including Dominik Mysterio. A match like this would be huge for the WWE Universe and for Mysterio, letting him face another childhood hero—like Edge, Orton, or his now-hated father, Rey Mysterio.
With two RAW dates left in November, WWE can use them to build Cena’s challenge for Mysterio’s Intercontinental Title. The two dates could feature segments or tag matches with wrestlers Cena wants to work with, like The Usos.
If Dominik Mysterio and Cena go at it, it should be at Survivor Series: WarGames in front of a large capacity crowd. It would hold significant meaning, as it would be Cena’s last PLE match.
If John Cena wants to become a WWE grand slam champion, he has to go through Dominik Mysterio

Regardless of whether Cena wins or loses, the main focus will still revolve around Cena’s retirement tour. Cena is in the final stages of his career, where he should be putting over other stars, which he has done with Cody Rhodes. In wrestling, veterans go out best by elevating younger talent and giving back to the business. It’s also another great strategy for WWE to invest in younger stars. Cena losing to Dominik Mysterio would bring Mysterio to greater heights as the incredible heel that he is. It would be an accomplishment he can brag to his father about, as Rey Mysterio was never able to beat Cena before.
Some may argue that Cena should win and become the Intercontinental Champion instead. This particular midcard title has eluded Cena his whole career. If Cena wins, he becomes a Grand Slam Champion. With that sounding great for Cena for fans, it’s also not that necessary. The Intercontinental title is not fully required under Cena’s belt as he already accomplished more than enough in his 23-year run with the WWE. Cena already became a 17-time WWE Champion this year and is considered by the most, “Greatest of All Time”.
