WWE 2K26 is on the way, and it's safe to assume that we will be seeing a healthy sized roster. MyFaction introduced personas to the game, and the new edition has been a hit since launch. From that point on, my mind has been stirring about possible wrestlers we can see in this year's version. Some foreshadowing, in the real-wrestling world like Jericho, or even returning guys like Matt Cardona.
This year we will definitely being seeing some new faces and even familiar guys in different times of their careers. Let's talk about it.
Jeff Hardy has appeared in more than 25 licensed wrestling games across WWE, TNA, and AEW titles, including the AEW: Fight Forever roster, underscoring his enduring value as a playable character.
He remains one of the most recognizable daredevils in wrestling history, with a move set—Swanton Bomb, Whisper in the Wind, ladder spots—that translates perfectly to modern gameplay systems. Community creations for Jeff in WWE 2K24 routinely rank among the most downloaded, indicating strong player demand even when he's not officially included.
Matt Hardy has been a staple of multiple WWE game generations, from the SmackDown vs. Raw era through 2K, giving developers ready-made model history and animation libraries to build from.
His Broken/Woken and classic Team Xtreme personas each offer distinct taunts, entrances, and move sets—ideal for an era-based or multi-skin presentation in 2K26. Matt's reputation as a character-work specialist makes him perfect for showcase modes that highlight creative storytelling, not just matches.
Chris Jericho is one of the most represented wrestlers in video games, spanning WCW, early SmackDown, the main WWE 2K series, and now AEW: Fight Forever, reflecting his cross-generational star power.
His various personas—Lionheart, Y2J, "Best in the World," "Le Champion"—give 2K multiple eras to mine for alternate attires, entrances, and finishers. Jericho's history as the first Undisputed WWE Champion makes him a natural fit for historical modes like 40 Years of WrestleMania–style content that 2K24 established.
Matt Cardona has reinvented himself on the independents as the "Indy God," collecting titles and becoming a key figure in GCW and NWA. This gives 2K a fresh, more hardcore-flavored version compared to his old Zack Ryder persona.
His prior run as Zack Ryder in multiple WWE games means 2K already has an animation base for the Rough Ryder and Broski Boot, which can be updated to reflect his modern, more violent style. Cardona's belt-collector gimmick and social-media-heavy character work are tailor-made for Universe and MyRise modes.
Powerhouse Hobbs has been featured as a core part of AEW: Fight Forever's roster, highlighting his status as one of the top current-generation power wrestlers. His move set—spinebusters, big lariats, powerbombs—fits perfectly into the archetype 2K has used for dominant big men, giving players a modern alternative to classic giants.
Hobbs has been positioned in major AEW storylines as a heavy and enforcer, making him an ideal opponent archetype in 2K26's story modes and towers.
Mr. Iguana is a colorful Mexican luchador from Culiacán who has been signed to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide since 2020 and later associated with WWE's NXT brand after WWE's acquisition of AAA in 2025.
He captured the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship with La Hiedra on December 8, 2024, cementing him as more than just a comedy act and giving 2K a legitimate titleholder to represent lucha content. His reptile-themed persona, vibrant gear, and comedy-lucha mix would give 2K26 a visually distinct lower-card favorite that stands out in a roster heavy on more conventional looks.
AJ Lee made a full-scale WWE return in 2025, appearing on SmackDown and then Raw on September 8, 2025, where she confronted Becky Lynch and set up a high-profile mixed tag feud with CM Punk vs. Lynch and Seth Rollins.
WWE officially promoted her return on its site, highlighting her status as a three-time Divas Champion who had been absent from Raw for over a decade before 2025. Her comeback and renewed WWE relationship remove the licensing roadblock that kept her out of recent 2K games, making 2K26 the perfect time to reintroduce her with updated attires and an overhauled move set.
Steve Blackman is a six-time WWE Hardcore Champion and one of the signature weapons-based fighters of the Attitude Era, known for his kendo stick offense and martial-arts style. His most famous moment is the SummerSlam 2000 Hardcore Title match where he knocked Shane McMahon off a roughly 20-foot structure before hitting an elbow drop—a spot that fits perfectly into a showcase or historical match recreation.
Blackman has made only sporadic WWE appearances since his last match on the 15th Anniversary Raw in 2007, and media discussions in 2025 about a possible Hall of Fame nod show fan nostalgia is strong—making his inclusion a deep-cut crowd-pleaser.
Big Show (Paul Wight) has decades of history with WWE and has been in nearly every major WWE video game series from the PS1 SmackDown era through recent 2K titles, making him one of the most established big-man templates in the franchise.
His ability to shift between "friendly giant" and "unstoppable monster" gives 2K versatility for story modes and alternate attires, from classic WWF gear to later WWE and AEW-inspired looks. As one of the few modern giants who can work big-spot matches—table breaks, ring collapses—he is ideal for spectacle-heavy match types like Royal Rumbles and multi-man tags in 2K26.
Ric Flair has traditionally been a fixture of WWE games and was included as a legend in WWE 2K22, but he was absent from 2K23 and 2K24 despite the huge legends-heavy roster in 2K24. Flair confirmed in 2025 that he was still under contract with AEW when WWE 2K25 released, and he said he did not expect to be in that game because of the AEW deal.
That AEW arrangement ended in 2024, and a January 2025 report noted WWE bringing Flair back for a new project, signaling a renewed working relationship that clears the way for a full "Nature Boy" return in WWE 2K26.
Throughout the years we have seen guys come and go from the roster, but WWE 2K26 has the potential to be stacked. Some new faces and some returners should keep us content for this years version. Stay tuned in for more.
