On Tuesday’s NXT Homecoming, Grayson Waller announced that TNA World Champion Trick Williams will face NXT Champion Oba Femi in a Winner-Takes-All Match on next week's edition of NXT. TNA's top management, including TNA's President, found out while watching the show.
Tommy Dreamer, who is an advisor to TNA President Carlos Silva, told Dave LaGreca on Busted Open that Silva texted him, while NXT was still on the air, asking if Dreamer knew about it. Dreamer texted him back, "I did not."
Dreamer then fielded phone calls from talent who were legitimately upset with WWE for burying their championship.
WWE made this decision three weeks before TNA's biggest show of the year, Bound for Glory, where Trick Williams has been advertised to defend the TNA World Championship against Mike Santana.
WWE showed tweets from upset TNA talents during the show, making it feel as if their reactions were a scripted part of the show.
Dreamer's comments add a new perspective on Tuesday's announcement. If TNA's officials, including the President, were not consulted or involved in the decision to put their world championship on the line in a Winner-Takes-All match, that is a problem.
As a fan, it doesn't affect me, but for the talent, that is disrespectful.
But this is professional wrestling after all. The successive tweets from TNA talent during the show smell like this is a work.
Sooo we can just make matches for Championships without @ThisIsTNA approval… ok got it!

Sick to death of @NXT running roughshod over @TNA like there are no consequences. You’re playing with fire @shawnmichaels

NXT celebrates its past but disrespects TNA’s future.

Many will talk about it. A few will do something about it.
Consider this a warning @ShawnMichaels. @WWENXT #NXTHomecoming
Title vs Title…..Winner takes all…is that even possible @milanmiracle ??? Doesn’t @carlossilva have to approve this decision. This is very frustrating. Will be watching this match very closely. I have unfinished business with both Oba and Trick @WWENXT #NXThomecoming

The tweets seem too synchronized and frankly, safe. Why would both Cassie and Mustafa Ali directly tweet Shawn Michaels?
I take Dreamer at his word: Carlos Silva did not know WWE was going to book their championship in a Winner-Takes-All Match before the world found out on television.
But even if TNA did not know, and some are legitimately upset, they're still playing ball with the WWE.
